Just had to say that I am on my last official day of vacation and it has been wonderful. I do need to check work email again, not bad to check in 2 times when I am out 2 weeks.
The 5K mindfulness triathlon event was awesome, I actually met Noah Levine who was there to lead the meditation (author of Dharma Punx and much more)
I went to Indian Peaks in Mon and got a beautiful walk in tent site that was so quiet and gorgeous. I hiked every day until early afternoon, then got back to camp for the rainstorm time. I had a nice tent for it, no leaks even with 3 hours of heavy rain some days. I also got to read Mindfulness Skills for Trauma andPTSD during the week. I saw noises, markets, deer, and the little animals. One hike, the highest at 11,300, was to a lake that still had ice in it. The wild flowers were amazing, and I crossed some water that scared me (walking on logs) but made it. I did stop short on one hike I had been trying for years, it was a huge rock field and I am not that coordinated.
Then I drove to dinosaur national monument to meet my bestie J. Totally different and very hot. We had to drive to different hiking spots which gave us air conditioning in the car at least. J did the driving and I did the cooking, worked out well. We hiked to petroglyphs not under any covering, just on the trail. But you really had to drive and hike to get to them.
So I am back, got really dark and lost 7 lbs (started the sugar thing 2 months ago). It should really look like I went on vacation!
