I have wanted to learn to dance for as long as I can remember. When I was a child I took some tap and ballet and enjoyed it, but we moved around too much to have any continuity in my instruction.

Now that I am older and have more time, I would love to take some lessons, but I cannot find them ANYWHERE. There are several dance studios in Springfield, Missouri, but none of them have adult classes. Everything is for kids.

I have even advertised on craigslist for one-on-one lessons with no replies. I can't believe there is nothing for adults in the whole of Springfield.

Discouraged

What type of "dance" did you want to learn? Still want tap and ballet?

Have you asked the kids' instructors if they know of anyone who offers adults' lessons?

I don't know your age but some of the senior centers here (55 and up) have dance lessons. Possibly the Y too.

Interesting as I could find them even real locally here. Often things like swing, salsa, stuff like that. One dance place went out of business but another opened up here. It's possible some gyms might have dance classes (I don't know, I don't really take classes when I join a gym, but maybe).

Did you try https://dancestepbystep.com/ in Springfield? Some times they run a groupon special so if you haven't signed up for groupon, you might.
There is also apparently a meetup group https://www.meetup.com/Springfield-Missouri-Social-Dance/?_cookie-check=DDFu4ICUZckC7mzA
Down here in Branson, the community center has ballroom on last Saturday of month. They usually do lessons on Thursdays but looks like that's been postponed for awhile. you might inquire at the Springfield parks&rec http://www.parkboard.org/. I know the local NPR sometimes mentions Contra Dance on their Friday Arts Calendar. Good luck! I didn't realize we were so close!

What about ballroom world?

I started with a quick search in a neighboring town I have a friend at, and a search there linked to that in Springfield.
