Yesterday we went on an orchard tour that was part of Cherry Fest here. It was wonderful!!!!!

got to see the rationale behind the layout of the state university test orchard, learning what they were doing and why, and got lots of really interesting information about cherries, grapes, and apple cultivation.

I can't remember having more fun than this--and they did such a good job educating the public and providing a wonderful outing for people, all free.

If you ever get a chance to take such a tour, you will be very happy you did.

We have an experimental station fairly close to where I live. Just as you did, I found the tour around the research on cucumbers, strawberries, asparagus, herbs, lavender, fruit trees quite fascinating and enjoyable.

Hmm, are you proselytizing for orchard tours?

It is inspiring to see what orchardists are doing.

(Proselytization alert.) In the vicinity of Bayfield WI there are a number of excellent orchards. Hauser's is a visual extravaganza. Highland Valley Farm is admirable.

Nice, very interesting about the blueberries and the 10 year solar financing. Something to think about!

That sounds like a lot of fun! We don't have too many orchard tours around here, but I'm dying to take a tour of Shelburne Farms (https://shelburnefarms.org).

Thanks for the inspiration, Tybee!

Thanks for the link, Catherine, that is gorgeous! If you ever get over to Woodstock, the Billing Farm Museum is wonderful.
