View Full Version : Pets are awesome
Seeing Float On's adorable picture reminded me how much joy our current cats Chris and Everett, and my past cat, Harry, bring/have brought to my life. So I thought it would be fun to start a thread where we could post pics of our cutiepies.
When I met SO I'd had Harry for several years and he was a charmer to everyone who came to visit, including SO. SO though, not content to accept Harry's freely given affections started feeding him human dinner, something I'd trained him not to care about which was quickly undone... After SO and I (and Harry) moved in together SO started suggesting that Harry might like a friend. I didn't find out why until after Harry passed away that on nights that I was taking a professional development class Harry would come downstairs when SO got home, hang out for a few minutes waiting for me and then go back upstairs and nap until I finally got home hours later so SO was feeling slighted. :~)
Now we have Chris and Everett. Here's a recent pic of Chris sitting on my lap for the evening while SO and I watch HGTV.

Please share your photos. The internet doesn't have enough cute cat and dog pictures!
Well, geez, photos seem to get randomly turned around here... I guess people will have to turn their heads to enjoy the adorableness or Chris... Alan, help?
I guess people will have to turn their heads to enjoy the adorableness or Chris... Alan, help?I don't think I can help with this problem. My theory is that our smartphones and tablets are smart enough to rotate pictures appropriately for display but our forum software is not. They show up here in the same orientation in which they're taken.

All of these little white doggies are so cute!
Everyone's furbabies are so cute.
I've never really been a cat person but we had DanaCat for 15 years and after she passed KuboCat showed up.
Here's TomDog in probably his best year. He always developed a lot of allergies and would rub off hair (one of those so ugly he's cute dogs with an underbite. He kind of looked like an Ewok and Benji).

Here's KuboCat (He arrived already fixed, note the cut ear for the neuter/release program) Just a big fat sassy orange tabby.

I had a nighmare last night, where in it I had a bunch of cats I had moved, temporarily, to a new place and I put them all outdoors. Not surprisingly, when it was time to gather them up to move them back home, I couldnt find most of them.
I have this dream periodically, about moving cats and they get permenantly lost.
Probably the trigger was that we came home from Hermann and I didnt see our resident cat here for 24 hours.
I wont post her photo out of respect to her. She is incredibly fat and does not like to be photographed. Haha.

Oh, so you're prejudiced against black doggies? You cross the street if you see my Nessie coming toward you? :( :)
I've actually heard that rescue shelters have a harder time placing black dogs. Boy, canine colorism runs deep.

haha. I had a black bulldog once (technically, a very very dark brindle) and I thought she experienced prejudice in the show ring because she was gorge, the most beyooooooootiful bulldog on the planet, but she did not get points.
the worst thing is to be born a black pitbull, they have a hard time finding homes even tho pitties are, at the moment, high profile rescue dogs.
As you can see, I'm not prejudiced - I've got one of each! No doggie racism here!
Btw, Brinkley is officially a Maltipoo, same as TTs dogs. He has papers to prove it. However, he's 26 lbs. He could lose a few ellbees, as UL says, but he would never have been a 10 pounder.
Lucy is a miniature Schnauzer.

My DD has a brindle pit bull mix--the most gentle, loving dog ever. I had to dog-sit this weekend because she went to a music festival and while dogs were permitted, pit bulls and Rottweilers were excluded. The festival's insurance company wouldn't insure them against those two breeds. Unfair!

Black animals have a hard time getting homes because their eyes don’t stand out like others colors and people connect with a animals eyes. My 2 little ones are Maltese and the big guy is a husky/Shepherd mix. I love cats too but am highly allergic now.
I don't think I can help with this problem. My theory is that our smartphones and tablets are smart enough to rotate pictures appropriately for display but our forum software is not. They show up here in the same orientation in which they're taken.
So I tried flipping the first photo (the totally upside down one) on my computer and resaving under a different name, but when I tried to upload it into the message it used the same photo number as it had previously. And it still showed up upside down. I'm also curious why it puts the thumbnail link of the upside down one when it's not at all referenced in the message. I guess some sort of hidden thumbnail gets embedded into the message that remains even if the photo gets taken out.
So many pretty babies! And for the poster who wanted to see Everett, here's the first pic I ever took of them, shortly after we got them 14 years ago. Everett is on the left and Chris is on the right.

Somehow you inserted it 3 times. (I deleted the close bracket after CONFIG on each one so that you'd see the message coding instead of it just posting the images 3 times again.)
I didn't intend for this thread to be a learning exercise about posting images, but oh well...

Here are pictures of my dear departed Nessie:
I miss her dearly but am not ready for a "replacement"--no one can replace my little scruffy ragamuffin girl. You are right, jp1--pets are awesome (oops--I just noticed this is an old thread... happy to have it bumped, though)

She actually is a champion show dog and the breeder quit showing and breeding and gave her to me. I went from rescuing old Maltese that no one wants to her giving me 3 young dogs. It was a fluke I ever met her.

Catherine: I've concluded that there is never any replacing of our beloved departed pets, but there are always uniquely wonderful animals in need of good homes. Nessie was lovely, and Zeus and Amy are adorable!

My friend had a yellow boy cat named Braveheart. He got his name because in the batch of wild kittens she found he was always the one who stepped out from the group to explore first.

OMG! That is exactly how she got her name!!! Feral litter born under porch at work that we all provided food and shelter. She was the only one that would come and see me when I was delivering food.
