A white officer who murdered an African American youth in Balch Springs, Texas just got a sentence of 15 years and a guilty verdict. Though the sentence is inadequate - lifetime with no chance of parole or were it legal, exile from the US to live in a refugee camp - would have been more appropriate, at least it's something and this evil murderer having once hid behind a badge will be doing hard time. Color me grateful though many I've spoken to in the 85006 are of the opinion that this former officer was given preferential sentencing and the sentence should have been longer so as to terrify the police.

I say though the sentence is woefully inadequate, it's a start anyway. Rob

I’m not sure it’s a good idea to impose sentences for the purpose of terrifying any given segment of the population.

What do sentences for the charge he was convicted of typically look like in the USA?

And here from your title I was thinking Divorced Female White goes to the movies, why is this worthy of a post?

And here from your title I was thinking Divorced Female White goes to the movies, why is this worthy of a post? It's worthy of a post because it gives hope - this story shines hope on the lives of those auto-hassled and auto-distrusted/auto-disrespected by American police. Rob

A black couple were being robbed in their own home. They called 911 and the cops arrived and promptly shot the homeowner a black man. Ugh!

On a personal level I worry about my black friends let alone just people in general.

I worry about my black grandson, age 4.

Then I realize that this is how nonwhite adults have worried for many decades —and it’s my white privilege that has blinded me until I became the grandmother of a black person.

Someday color won’t be a issue as we all mix together. Then people will fight about religion or other stupid stuff.,

Yes, the post makes sense. My assumptions based on the title are another story. Never assume!
