View Full Version : Anyone ever have a stress fracture with possible fractured pedicle in Thoracic spine?

In trying to understand my leg problems, I had a Thoracic MRI. It showed a possible T12 fracture. But it wasn't able to get a good view of the pedicle.
The radiologist suggested a CT scan, which would show the pedicle.

I made an appointment with a spine doc, but they'd only let me see his PA. He seemed fairly competent. They took customary xrays before he even saw me.
He said there's nothing they would do for this fx.

But I do have a lot of muscle pain right next to that fx, but he said there's nothing but pain control measures for that.

I tried to leave him a message asking if he actually could see the pedicle and he told the message-taker to tell me, "It's just as I told her......no surgery needed".......which didn't really answer my question.

I thought I'd ask here if anyone ever had a stress fx in their Thoracic spine and also had a fx of the pedicle. What were your symptoms?
It's unfortunate that it seems fairly routine to have to see PAs first. I suppose it's necessary with all the patients they have now.

Thanks.

Go to a specialist. No one on here is a specialist in this field.

You are right. It is becoming standard practice to see a PA first. And that will become very common in the next 5 years with increasing population and decreasing specialist MDs.

I don't know if it helps you but it is customary that x-rays, CT scans, MRIs are read by a radiologist and those dictated reports are available to providers. You have full rights to your medical records so go sign the form and get your radiology report.

I would see if you now can get a appointment with the doctor as you have jumped through their hoops.

For Pete's sake. I'm not asking for actual advice on what's wrong with me. I'm asking if anyone has had a fractured vertebral pedicle and what their symptoms may have been.

I bet a specialist can tell you what the constellation of symptoms are.

It’s a lot cheaper to ask anyone here who’s had experience with it.

It is also cheaper and faster to google it.

Yeah, but, the doc already said the only thing that can be done for this is pain management. So the only thing you can do (if you want relief other than pain relief) is to find a new doctor. Not understanding how finding someone with exactly the same condition can help you?

Oh man. I regret this post. Too many don't understand my question, so let's just forget about it.
This was my initial question here: "I thought I'd ask here if anyone ever had a stress fx in their Thoracic spine and also had a fx of the pedicle. What were your symptoms?"

Gardnr......I did take my thoracic MRI disc for them to print and view at my visit. I also gave them a copy of the radiologist's report of the MRI....which was done elsewhere recently.

I will call the spine place and see if I can get the reports from the plain xrays they took there. But it's my understanding that only a CT scan with a specific view can show if the the pedicle is fractured....but I'll give it a try. Thanks for that suggestion.
