Oh dear, we had a good field trip and then after getting back our last 2 hours were just nuts. I had many things to do for admin type work (my desk is in the corner of the cafeteria) and that is always challenging. Then a staff came and told me something that required a social services call. That takes a phone call to our director as well. Right before that we had a child who had an accident (#2) on the playground. He was changing, I gave him clean underwear and pants. It happens when you are 5 you know. Right after I sent the staff doing the report to another room to do the report a child drops a glass jar in the hallway where the students keep things in individual bins. I couldn't go handle it myself and our regular facilities person wasn't there so one staff person got to clean it up and did a great job.
While the staff is making a report the child says something else concerning so we run a sticky note back to her. I am on the phone with the director (can I say how nice it was that she was concerned for the staff member making the report, asking if she was okay). This is the 3rd call this staff member has made on this child/family. I made one call and one of my colleagues made a call. That one the mom figured out it was us and confronted me on it. Now our director wants to make sure there is some follow up on this. I need to send her an email with the timelines so she can take this to the next level. She was concerned that the mom confronting me may be threatening. I never considered that, but nice that she is looking out for us.
I am going on retreat Saturday morning, and so much to get done. Everyone got an extra 30 minutes tonight and I still stayed way too late.
