I am really happy with my assistant this year. She took on writing a behavior plan I am in agreement with. She has also been doing as much programming as I expect. There is an activity and then a 'brain time' one like a science challenge. The kids have been loving it. I stuggled last year to get plans for the science challenge time from my assistant. Also my nervous new kindergartners are settling in because they are having fun.
The only downside is that she is super pregnant so we need to plan for time off in September.
