What are your suggestions for the greatest novelettes and novellas?

Any genre.

I think Animal Farm is one of the best. I also really liked The Old Man and The Sea. Of course, The Call Of Cthulhu was something else too!

John Steinbeck immediately comes to mind: Of Mice and Men, The Pearl, Tortilla Flats, Cannery Row.
As an aside, you would probably really like Travels with Charley by Steinbeck if you haven't already read it.
