Wanna show off your Christmas tree?
My dear wife cut out the snowflakes with scissors. I love them.

Ours is still growing outside, we meant to go harvest it today but failed due to poor weather and general laziness :-)
We spend each Christmas on a beach, this year it will be in South Carolina. We have a small tabletop tree that travels with us so once we get there and get it set up I'll post a pic.

They are great snowflakes! Great balance to the tiny twinkly lights, and the icing on the cake is that they're home-made!
This is the first year in 68 years of Christmases that I may not have a Christmas tree.. but if I break down and get some make-do thing that will actually fit in this little house, I'll share it.
Nice tree, Dado.
I won't show off my tree this year. When you add a young pup to the house, it cuts out a lot of decorations. No hanging stockings, no icicles or other tempting distractions that need investigation and tasting and pulling. He is having fun and I am busy managing and training him. :D

LOL razz........I understand that. Our cat used to try to climb it. Oh....and my son chewed on a bulb when he was little. When my daughter was small, we had to put a little fence around the tree. So pets and children require much of the same things when it comes to christmas trees! Have fun with your pup!
My mother’s father was a Chicago fireman in the 40s through the 60s. He had an absolute hatred of natural trees based on their horrific flammability. All his descendants have artificial trees. In my childhood they were aluminum. Today I have a realistic tree that came with a remote that lets me change the light patterns.
That's a lovely tree--colorful, with a mix of decorations.
I'll have a tree again some day. Artificial because, you know, I'm a tree hugger, not a tree mugger. :~)

Here is our 10’ pencil shaped tree, in its last year here. It isnt charming with home made pieces like dado’s, it is more department store decor, but it has hot pink ornaments to personalize it, my fave. I will give it all away next November.
On our mantle is the old Santa, sleigh, and reindeer of celluloid from my mom. I think he dates from the 1930’s. He is all faded, his suit is now orange instead of red.

Is there a story of how the different decorations on the tree came to be? Say the horses?

Not sure this will work---I haven't attached a photo for a LONG time.
This is Fred....DH calls her the Christmas Donkey. She loves hanging out lioness-like beneath the tree.

Just that I love horses and miss having them, so I like to give my tree a horse theme, I guess.

Ours is too embarrassing to post. DW brought it up from the basement; apparently last year we took it downstairs, lights, ornaments, and all. It's a little worse for that wear but it looks okay sitting in the window and Christmas isn't at our house this year anyway, so we'll put that energy into something else.

Kay your kitty is lovely! Cats under trees yis such a nice thing.
My old fat cat hasn’t been downstairs in years so she hasn’t seen Christmas decorations in a long time.
Dado, good for your wife for cutting out those stars-- I always thought those were really cool and could never cut out anything successfully. IL, love the old reindeer and Santa! We have a couple of Erzbegere ornaments we put on the mantel too--I have to reglue them every year. Catherine, I think this weekend, you and DH should go buy a tree--you can use your heirloom ornaments! I saw some adorable table top trees at the food market this week --I guess that is what they were, they only came up to one's waist. If I didn;t have the little (for us) artificial one with just the right number of ornaments, I woudl have been tempted.
You can go find a real tree farm, or go to a treelot--drink cocoa and inhale!

Here's ours. Not as many ornaments this year as I was not up to the task at the time of decorating.

Love the treeskirt!
This morning I lit a candle beside the little gingerbread village that sits on the shelf. Other than a wreath, that’s the extent of our decorations. I’ve never been into it much but now that the kids are gone I can minimize it down to almost nothing. I like the public displays in our downtown that are over the top and I can visit them. I don’t want to do the work!

Thank you! Step-grandmother made it. It is one of those kits with felt and sequins, etc. Back when the kids were little, she also did individual stockings for the family, a Noah's Ark advent calendar, and a Christmas card holder wall hanging. How she managed ALL of that, I will never know! Bless her - she is 102 and still kicking!

Not as embarrassing as the 2-ft tree I bought today at Dollar General for $12.50! What a comedown this year! I used to have beautiful trees, and every ornament has a story, and we would have the kids show and tell the stories about the ornaments and then put them on the tree. We had the "baby's first Christmas" ornaments, and ornaments we got on vacations in Vermont, Maine, Orlando, etc. I had old ornaments from my MIL, and gifted ornaments from dear friends, and hand-made ornaments the kids made. It was like our family's whole life in a tree. I still have the ornaments packed away in New Jersey. I'll probably just divide them up to the kids, if they want them.
I also bought a poinsettia, just for some color and greenery.
