I can't stand living in the big-city.
It's far too stressful and fast-paced.

Would you agree: medium-sized
cities have a higher-quality of
life than major-metropolitan areas?

Anyway, I'm thinking becoming
a medical-coder so I can work
from home and leave.

Is that a good-idea? Advice Please

I have always been fond of university towns, meaning those that have a major state funded university as a major employer. There is always lots to do. Iowa City, Iowa—
Lawrence, Kansas—Ann Arbor, Michigan, places like that.

There are too many variables to offer a simple answer to that.

I think you'll find that most of us love where we live. Big city, medium city, small town. Rural state, populated metro area nearby.

What are YOU looking for? What lifestyle do you want? What do you want to do with your free time?

Only then can you decide where you should live.

There is a LOT to learn for medical coding. Use a credible program and get certified. Without that, you won't find work.

Lawrence, Kansas—Ann Arbor, Michigan, places like that. Agree about college towns. i live down the road from Lawrence KS (affectionately known as "LFK" around here). Lots going on and a blue dot in a red state, if you lean that way.

Another vote for a mid-sized college town. I have lived in a larger metro area where most all routine business was close to home and much in walking distance, plus good bike lanes and public transportation. I think there are ways to adapt to city life and reduce the stress.

Until one has a skill that can secure employment, revenue and independence, it won't much matter where one goes, will it?

Tell us about your medical coding program, that sounds interesting. Is it all online? What do they do for a practicum?
