I've noticed a few posts about sewing.

I can kind of sew. Ive made rain coats, pants, lots of bags, hammocks. I tried to make a hat but the stitching shrunk the brim and it turned out hilarious lol.

Ive had Singer double needle industrial machines, a consew 206rlb18 (a real finger eater) a bunch of straight stitch industrials.

I sold them all a while back during a move, but now that I have the Airstream, Im kind of wanting to get back into it. Probably get a sailrite, something with a triple feed and a zigzag, although I would like a big industrial with a knee lift, hard to beat.

Anyway, when I get another machine (just killed a Lydia) and seamstress dummy and ham I would love to talk turkey. I'm all self taught and probably making a lot of mistakes when I make patterns and clothes.

I have yet to make a pair of pants that I would wear for anything but camping, and I read a post that someone was making blazers. If you can do that, Im down to learn anything you might care to pass on.

Thanks.

I sewed my own clothes for years including tailored suits. I'm over it:~)

My clothes last so long after I buy them that it is not worth it to me to try to sew anymore.

I sewed all my high school clothes, but that was back when everyone did it ('60s). Since then, I've killed Halloween costumes, but nothing else. I'm hoping to make slipcovers for my two wing chairs this year, but I'm a bit intimidated. Since I threw out the Kenmore machine my DH bought me in 1977, I have to borrow one of my DDs machines. She and her partner do a LOT of sewing for personal and commercial purposes.

If you listen to podcasts, you might enjoy Love to Sew. It's by 2 women (probably 30ish) in Canada. One owns an independent pattern company and the other one owns a fabric company. They drop every Tuesday and last about an hour.
