trump's newest comment...
"When somebody is president of the United States, the authority is total." Governors are responding... they will decide for their state when it is to be "business as usual."

trump's reelection campaign is suing a Wisconsin tv station for running an anti-trump commercial that pieces together audio clips of the president talking about the coronavirus outbreak. The hope of the trump administration is that the threat of legal action could prompt tv stations to avoid running advertisements that are critical of trump in the midst of a contentious presidential campaign.

He'll probably have FEMA steal Wisconsin's allotment of medical gear--apparently they're doing it all over the country--the perks of an executive with absolute, total power.

I have a friend who works CARGO transport in TX. Customs walked in there this morning and helped them stop a shipment of PPE/masks to a private individual in Florida.

Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmmmm

M.A.D. = make America dead. MAD king orange.

Most confirmed cases in the world and we can't even test enough to really have good confirmation numbers (yea sure in truth this needs to be looked at per capita, and potentially ALL countries are fudging figures, but still wow ...).

All true! Testing still sucks! 15d wait in a Capital city? Ridiculous.

I had quite the chuckle at Coumo's "And then we will have a constitutional crisis like you haven't seen in decades, where states tell the federal government, 'We're not going to follow your order.", when we have that over drugs, firearms, illegal aliens, etc.
States rights verses federal rights, seems this discussion happened in the late 1800's. The feds normally control you by cutting your federal funding, if you don't follow. Where at least I have seen the states have fight back, is unfunded mandates.

I think the real threat of tyranny isn’t from a crude blowhard like Trump. It comes in more subtle forms. Executive orders to create law when legislators aren’t compliant enough. Selective enforcement of the law to suit the executive’s political interests. “Dear Colleague” letters aimed at eliminating protections for the accused in higher education. Weaponizing the IRS against hostile political groups. Using political opposition “research” to justify prosecutions. Things like that.

And where do you suppose these executive orders and creation of laws start from?

In the United States, a federal executive order is a directive issued by the president of the United States that manages operations of the federal government. ... Wikipedia

in other words... a crude blowhard like trump!

oh! He is the executive of the U.S. so he issues executive orders.

The amazing thing right now is how many of his sheeples are loving Democratic Socialism and drooling at the thought of those stimulus checks! Should not they be rejecting that entire bill?

Somebody calling themselves Aunt Crabby on Twitter noted: "Am I the only one who finds it ironic that in the United States, Republican Capitalism has to be bailed out by Democratic Socialism about every 10 years?" Kind of like how the economy always does better under Democrats.

The problem with this orange would be dictator, isn't so much that they are a dictator, but that the trains don't even run on time (instead they crash into each other and jump the tracks ...)

Andrew Yang was ahead of his time. By about two months...

She’s auditioning for Vice President, perhaps too enthusiastically.

Very ironic, indeed.

Wannabe dictator? The governor of Michigan is competition for that title!I just feel sorry for the people of Lansing. Who knows if those protestors spread the virus onto others - or amongst themselves - or not? Strange words coming from me for sure but these are not normal times. Now is not the time to protest. Rob

With the right attitude VP can be a very powerful position. Just ask dick Cheney.

Also with how old the presidential candidates are... they could be president.

with Biden they WOULD be running things in overwhelming likelihood. So yea Elizabeth Warren. I don't even think she'd necessarily govern as a progressive, but I'm not sure who would make a better choice either, being that we've arbitrarily eliminated half the species (males) just because that sound bite sounded good at the time, so people like Cory Booker out etc.. Stacy Abrams, in no way qualified to run the country which I think the VP might do. Kamala Harris, no thank you. For Sanders I may have picked Jayapal but Biden would never pick her, but with Biden I give greater liklihood to the VP running things.

Like Trump is a spring chicken? Reagan was 77 when he finished his 2nd term.

Our citizens seem to prefer senior citizens. Clinton and Obama are the only ones to my recall, elected since Reagan who were under 50 when elected.

Cory Booker could very well have a prominent job in the cabinet. We have a very, very deep bench.
