Is there any real evidence of it though, other than people nattering about it on the Internet? I've not made a detailed study of Biden, but my vague recollection is that his style even years ago looked to a casual eye like there was some attention/focus issue, but there could well be explanations for the behaviour.

Regardless--point me to one clinical trial supported in peer-reviewed literature that supports the efficacy of Lysol administered as an injection or infusion for treatment of COVID-19. If people hear the POTUS say that putting disinfectants in your body by any means is an "interesting" idea, they might try it, one way or the other. Call people stupid. Doesn't matter. Even car companies put the disclaimer in their operating manuals "This car requires gas to operate." His ignorant babble was irresponsible.

Even if there was a study somewhere that suggested this or that might work (and a study would be just that), and that might be closer to what he said although I'm not sure any such research even exists, using a speech to point to some long shot, well maybe this could work, isn't a good use of anyone's time. If there was any chance something could work it would be being tried, much is. What we want, and can't get from national level politicians, is actual policy to deal with the crisis. That's the job. His speeches provide no value and they might as well stop.

In normal times I would secretly welcome the advent of Darwin’s law on anyone who injects a little Clorox into their veins and dies a quick and painless death. But I know that is a theoretical impossibility.

What really happens is that someone like that would use up scarce healthcare resources, would be in pain and possibly long-term impairment that might require taxpayer’s dime to support, and might even take innocents along with him such as children or animals.

It is always an unhappy thought when the practical mundane overtakes my theoretical imaginings.

So true. My brother sucks up VA resources, even though he was in the Army for only a few months before they gave him an discharge because of severe alcoholism. He's 62 and still alive and well in a beautiful apartment funded by you (To IL and all of us here who pay taxes--thanks, guys!). He hasn't worked in decades. But he did serve and he's a nice guy, and he's my brother. I think the philosophies of utilitarianism and Darwinism have their downsides.

One nice thing about the declining political fortunes of Donald J Trump - he's more likely to override Mitch McConnell to get more stimulus money into voter's hands. Much as I view law enforcement as a vehicle to wealth redistribution, I'm now seeing Donald Trump as potentially useful in getting more stimulus out to everyday people. Perhaps for some lucky folks, this stimulus can become emergency savings, thereby making his Presidency slightly less toxic and also middle finger saluting the GOP as a whole. I get the sense that Trump is mad at us because we laughed at him and he isn't going to speak to us anymore. That's fine by me; I decided about 2 weeks ago that life is too short to continue spending 1.5 hours a day on his briefings that offered little in the way of useful information. He was clearly holding conferences even when there was nothing new to be said.
It is very strange that Biden is so completely invisible. I hope he isn't with Kim Jong-un or anything like that.
I have a few FB friends who are ardent Trump supporters and I've concluded that there is absolutely nothing that he could say or do that would shake their loyalty. It is perplexing and more than a little bit scary.
