Edit: Make that 14 year hiatus. I mathed badly...
Hello all!
I was a longtime member of the old Simpleliving.net forums, but I quit posting around 2006. Imagine my chagrin when I realized they were no more, and then my happiness at discovering they had simply moved.
Unfortunately, I don't remember my old forum handle, it likely had the word Thistle in it because I used that a lot back in the day.
I live on the Washington north coast, a hop and a skip from the Canadian border, with my partner and teen son. I probably lived in New Mexico with a young son when I was a member previously :laff:
I'm a naturalist, focused on education and restoration. My family is working toward our permaculture dreams, and simple, green living has been our lifelong goal and focus. Glad to be back on the forums and perhaps I'll come across some familiar faces!

Welcome back!!!
Wow, so cool! Welcome back!
Welcome back! I'm also in Washington, right on the border with Canada.
Welcome (back)! I won't be a familiar face, having joined around 2010 (?) or so but it'll be nice to see your posts.
Welcome back! Also in Washington State, but on the southern border.
I do recall a Thistle something...welcome back. Hard to believe some of us have been here that long.
I’ve been around since 2001-2002.
I vaguely recall a Thistle something as well.

I haven't thought about the old site for along time... it was a good site.

Isn’t it funny that shortimers like Steve have been around “only” for a decade?
I’ve been here since spring 2001. I remember the year because it was the year my in-laws took the entire family, 25 people, to Switzerland. That was a very big deal.
I came to the SL forums as a refugee from a bulldog forum. And I was thinking about that very forum just yesterday because the person who was responsible for killing it off just died himself this month and I just found out. He was a preternaturally cheerful person who relentlessly posted about his own bulldog. Absolutely relentless! While it may seem strange that a happy upbeat person can kill off a forum, it was already pretty much dead anyway and then his posts came along to put nail in coffin. But egad he loved his dog! That we heard about constantly.:)
Welcome back! I'm in Northern Idaho and have spent some time in that area (Birch Bay and Bellingham). It's awesome up there, have always had it in the back of my head to move there at some point.

I didn't realize that when I wrote it, but ... wow. Now that I think about it, it likely was more like 2011 or 2012. But still....

January 2011 is the line of demarcation, when new forum started. All of our juicy history prior to that is gone. I,doubt it was preserved on the internet wayback machine, but I have not checked.

Thanks, Alan. Hiding in plain site. Yup; lurked for a while here and then joined not long before I left my job. Still does not seem like 8+ years.

Welcome back. Oregonian here.

I was going to comment about Steve as well. I realize 8 years is a long time, but it just seems like he's been here "forever", just like so many of us.

Welcome! I've been here since 2005 and I think I remember you - a screen name with Thistle in it seems familiar. Great to have you back. Rob
