Here is an example of the wonderful architecture in my neighborhood. I love every one of these houses in the “Harris Row.” It’s a beautiful row! The houses in the row were originally built all alike. Many of them still have intact interiors.

I love these houses so much in this row because they are minii-mansions: small scale only a bit bigger than my house but fully appointed. They have wonderful millwork, pocket doors, ceiling medallions, and most of them still have a back staircase.

This house is owned by people who have been in this neighborhood longer than we have, 30+ years. I haven’t heard where they’re moving.

I love the old homes too. The 2 we had in Wisconsin are now 100 years old and very interesting. Our house now built in 1950 is just a ranch so no interesting details.

Gorgeous..

Just wait until the HGTV crew shows up and they'll have that gorgeous fireplace ripped out and the brick painted white and the pocket doors replaced with tacky trendy barn doors in a red hot minute. Not to mention tearing down all the walls and moldings to create a bland, boxy, open concept.

I agree with you.. those home are absolutely beautiful and made with real craftsmanship.

I like the idea of rowhouses, but my "storied" days are behind me. (or will be, if I ever make my escape.)

Love the yellow of the walls, the banister-free staircase not so much. (Eeeek! :help:)
