Tore down the old shed, but the wood and everything is still piled up. (Waiting for dumpster). A neighbor over the driveway asked about using some of the wood, which I had no problem with whatsoever. Talked to him about a trade... I wanted some of wood to build a garden box and asked if he could just use his saw to cut some pieces to size for me - I'm thinking just nail some together into a rectangle and put int he yard - and he could use anything else. He offered to make the box! Two hours later, I have a beautiful box, lined and ready to load with compost! He and I both agreed... bartering rocks!!!

Thanks, everyone. Spent yesterday filling new box with compost and soil. Had help from the kids next door with the seeds and now have a row of radishes and a row of turnips planted. Rainy, wet day today, so timing was great for once. LOL.

Took the four shelves from the pantry makeover and made one last garden box for the summer. Turned out to be way bigger than expected and will need to get a couple more bags of soil. LOL. Planning some fall carrots. Older seeds, so hopefully then will grow.

You will enjoy making discoveries in planting, some successful and some not but it is all part of the fun of gardening.

You are absolutely right! It has been an adventure so far. The fact that ANYTHING grew to the point we could actually eat it, has totally motivated me. LOL. Maybe my "brown thumb" are getting a little closer to green. LOL

:D Hang in there as it becomes addictive especially after a long winter.

Radishes are up and ready! Since the kids next door actually helped plant them, we all picked them together. Quite a lot, even split between the two households. I wanted to use the radish greens, instead of just discarding them, so started researching some recipes. Made this Radish Greens pesto. Didn't have any nuts, so just omitted them. I/we like it.

Interesting, I’ve never done anything with radish greens. Radishes are usually the first thing to come up in our garden.
