Thought that we needed a thread to share our favourite links and photos of exquisite beauty to bring joy to others.

I think this artist is amazing. Can you imagine the work involved! Would love to visit Valencia and see it.

Amazing, the cross stich roses! I love juxtaposed artistry—needlework and buildings are great! It reminds me of all the knitted cosies that were around trees the past few years. I never figured out what that was about but they were a lot of them.

I just bought a print of a wee Scottish cottage:

Very nice! I would worry about the beautiful cross stitch being negatively effected by weather, but still beautiful.

Another clever artist. He reminds me of the Eastern European artist that has painted her whole neighborhood in bright colors and designs, sowing beauty like Johnny Appleseed sowed fruit.

OMG LOVE it.

I must say having a "wee hoose" myself, one of the huge downsides from my POV is NO wall space. I had a lot of wall art that I truly loved in my NJ house and nothing fits here. So as much as I love your print, IL, and the leaves that Jane posted, and I'd be tempted to buy something from those artists, they wouldn't fit. Maybe the print would make good greeting cards? Wait, no-one sends greeting cards any more.

I'm thinking of doing something like this. If I did, all my angst about wall paint colors would just disappear.

I like a well-done gallery wall--or a poorly-done one, if it makes you happy.
I get tired of the constant "that's in this year" decorating viewpoint constantly foisted on us.

I have a wall that is perfect to fill with gorgeous art works. I promised myself that I would paint them. Covid restrictions will encourage me to follow through. Gardening took my time through the summer or at least that is my excuse.:~)

I have a relatively large living room with zero wall space, as it has three sets of huge sliding glass doors and a fireplace--saved me worrying about it. :~)

I am doing the three rounds in my French bedroom. Hung from a moire ribbonor a silken cord from the picture railing. That seems very French to me. Of course this plan exits only in my mind...

The wee Scottish cottage goes with a different grouping. It is decidedly not
french!

Beautiful to see. Some remind me of the images recently discovered by remote aerial views in Mexico or Peru? I am fascinated with the medium that is being used and surviving all these years. Are the same media still in use? I love art. Tradd would call me an art nerd.:laff:

I believe the original pigments (mostly shades of ochre and also charcoal) are being used, but newer ones as well.

They really feel immediate and fresh, and not like an ancient art form.

I love art (and craft as well) though not particularly the "old Masters" type.

Chinese do these things to a huge degree and it’s amazing what they can accomplish. I’m not sure that I like it better than the smaller ones, the smaller ice sculptures and ice cities, it’s just almost too much I think. I think they lack artistry. But it certainly is a sight to behold that’s for sure.

We've had a very, very mild winter. Only one real frost to speak of. So no real winter beauty, just wet trees, yards and streets. It hasn't even been that rainy. I do have flowers here and there which have bloomed through the winter. They're so confused. My lavender has never stopped.

Wonderful needlework. Hearts are always a favorite here.

I'm convinced mild winters are a trend in the Northwest. I only like snow when I have nowhere to go. And that includes the mailbox.

I just watched this wonderful "tour" from Australia of a collection of chatelaines and forgotten needlework tools. It's very interesting to hear the history of their use and how they changed according to the fashion of the times. The host of the YouTube show is a guy--he likened chatelaines to Swiss Army knives, so maybe even the guys here would find it interesting.

Time to excavate this thread again!

For your viewing pleasure I submit the following.
Designed and painted by EGA member Judy Jeroy, over the next five years thousands of members of the EGA (Embroiderers Guild of America) worked to fill every inch of the five panels with needlework illustrating the incredible diversity of life in America. The tapestry, an impressionistic piece, uses nature’s flora and fauna against the country’s landscape. The tapestry is on display at our Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

https://egausa.org/national-tapestry-america-the-beautiful/

It's really "clickable." Scroll down through the regions and click on the insets. I was so pleased that my area is represented by a red-winged blackbird!
