I recently lost a bet. I didn’t believe the Turkish government had an “Office for Human Abductions and Executions”. Apart from the lack of euphemism for such a dirty business, including “Human” in the title seemed odd to me. Would they execute a journalist but not his cat?

But I was wrong. As the saying goes, no matter how cynical I get, I can’t keep up.
