Ironically enough I'm told it's going over well on the neighborhood, too. Apparently Orange Soon To Lose Power is refusing to sign the relief bill unless it includes USD $2,000 for everyone. I'm hearing this may derail the bill, thereby spiraling untold numbers into the America I've known - or worse - though I will say one side note - there is a LOT of oppottunity open locally in grocery retail - it's open like restaurants and resort work once were.

But I digress. How utterly insane of the man to.demand higher checks and in doing so, destroying many lives via derailing the bill.

I've been too busy to guage neighborhood temperature and this latest is fairly new - but the 85006 needs to.wake up and smell the percolating beans. Trump's call for higher aid right at this moment? Not a good thing. Rob

The local news last night interviewed a shut down restaurant owner. He said something I thought was interesting. Pretty close to, rich people think that poor people think $600. is a lot of money. Although I suspect Trump is just being his usual obstinate self or has motives other than really helping.

I see the Democratic leadership and the Squad are on board for a bigger handout.

I'm unclear what the fluff (extra provisions) he wanted cut out consists of. Anyone know?

He’s conflating two things. The stimulus bill was combined with the general appropriations bill. So when he talks about Asian carp mitigation(we’re trying to stop them before they get into the Great Lakes and decimate the fish population) or money for foreign countries, that stuff is in the general spending bill. The stimulus bill and the spending bill got combined into one big piece of legislation. Someone was on the radio talking about this earlier today.

He's just yanking peoples' chains, and inspiring his base.

He had plenty of opportunity to make this position known during the months and months of discussion of this package. Instead, he waited until the very last moment, just to throw a turd in the pool.

Well, at least he pardoned some war criminals, so there's that.

Come on Rob. I'm sure most people here agree on lots of things.

Like we agree that we are a fine group of upstanding citizens, and (mostly) a congenial bunch. A toast to us!

Not to mention an assortment of his criminal cronies, which--unfortunately--has precedents among presidential pardons, which should better be saved for people wrongly convicted, or given draconian sentences.

That will be trump's legacy... having executed more people than ever in the last what? 100 years?

I hear this everywhere. The website says 17 executions this year-dated Dec 22. Last year was higher. Where is the actual data on all these executions?

He's accelerated federal executions--it's all about his legacy, you know.

And he just this moment vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act...

Sure looks like he's trying to burn the Republic down on his way out the door.

But I’ve been told that the president is mostly a figurehead so I’m sure none of these actions matter.

And yet, there are people who still stick up for him. It is unbelievable!

well the true leader of the country seems to be Mitch, being that that's why no stimulus has passed in 5 months, but Trump still has some power.
