Going out to lunch tomorrow with the kids. Today my youngest son made me coffee, breakfast and fed the dogs. Going to a restart on special days isn’t fun.

We stopped over to see Mom and brought her an enormous box of her favorite gourmet chocolates and did a few things around the house and yard. She said it was the best Mother's Day ever, which is kind of funny, but also shows how easily pleased she is, and how much she appreciates anything we do for her.
We're taking her to an appointment tomorrow afternoon and will take her out to eat afterwards.

PS: Oh yes, and Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

Baked my mom a coffee cake with berries. Did some yard work there too.

Took my mom some flowers. Had to explain she was my mom. She told me she had no children, but she admired the flowers.

Went to my daughter-in-law's for dinner. Felt very loved and appreciated.

My husband bought flowers for my mother, my daughter-in-law, and me. I am very lucky.

Hugs to you Tybee, that sounds painful to have your mother not recognize you. I hope my mother doesn't last long enough to reach that point.

Yeah, it's kind of like visiting the Twilight Zone, very disorienting. Thank you, and glad your mom doing better than that.

I'm sorry Tybee, that is so sad. My mom still knows who I am, but if she is out of her house, she doesn't know where she is. Yesterday at my sister
s house, she was insisting it was her grandson's house and that she was in Vermont (not Connecticut). Seeing how quickly her cognitive abilities have declined in the last year since my father died, its a fairly high probablility that she'll stop recognizing people fairly soon.

Dementia really sucks.

It really does, and I am sorry you are going through this. Your poor Mom.

So sorry for those with dementia. My good friend quit recognizing my husband first, then me and lastly the dogs. It’s heartbreaking.
