Since a major article in 2017 in The New York Times Covered an unexplained incident, it is now ok to talk about Unidentified Ariel Phenomena without being considered a crank.
What is your current thinking on this? There are some rational people with experience in the military who think beings from outside the earth are sending their probes/drones/whatevers to earth. They are not necessarily manned with sentient beings.
What do you think?

This is a modern-day, important incident that many people find credible and unexplainable.
Navy pilots saw unexplained aircraft off the coast of San Diego.

I have always thought we are probably not alone. I am not surprised.
Occam's Razor leads me to think this stuff is not of extrasolar origin.
See also "Don't look for zebras on Greene Street".
I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to where they come from, but credible observers have certainly seen them.
I've seen two different aerial phenomena that I couldn't explain, but no little extra-dimensional beings, thank heavens. :)
I, also, have no doubts that we are not alone. The entire "place" is way too big for us to be the only, single, solitary planet to have life (the likes of which is a whole other discussion - LOL).

I don't think we are alone. I just don't think anyone nearby-ish has invested the energy output to send probes to our system capable of messing around in the atmosphere for fun and games.
Possibly an advanced version Bezos conducting intergalactic tourist excursions?
It's a real mystery without enough information to form anything but a guess, but I am tending toward an accidental or intentional leak in the time space continuum that allows earthly visitors from our future or from another parallel dimension.
I buy into the theory that advanced forms of life in other places in the universe, but whether they are capable or interested in coming to our planet is doubtful. The myth in fringe beliefs that the ETs are bipedal with arms, digits, or bilateral symmetry seems unlikely compared to other forms of possible intelligent evolution. At least without divine intervention. It interesting to think about.

Your first paragraph seems as possible as anything else to me.
A planet ruled by cephalopods would be intriguing.

How do you know we don't already live on one? :-)

Considering how vast and unexplored the oceans are, it's possible.
And UFOs have been seen entering and leaving bodies of water...>8)
We’re all just part of a vast game similar to The Sims that someone (god?) is playing on a computer somewhere. UFO’s are either a feature that the player bought for amusement or a glitch in the program.

I like this explanation the best so far. :D
We are an arrogant people believing that we can see into infinity but materially based which immediately sets limits.
The simulation hypothesis seems to have gained traction lately. Interesting idea. I think the player with my avatar is easily distracted.
"Where was I? Oh this old lady..."
I think Shakespeare had it right:
"If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?"
I could suspect that any god force or alien technology has little interest in computer simulations, iPhones, or facebook, but I'll concede to anyone who would like to think that since no one really knows.
Another unexplained mystery to me is the Havana illness. Some sort of focused high energy waves that cause sometimes long lasting disabilities. And they don't seem to have any good explanations. I suspect some government skullduggery somewhere along the way.

I remember something about the Russians doing this to Americans in the embassy back around 1981 or so--there was a story in the New Yorker about it.
