Edited!
In retirement I send a whole lot more emails in conducting “business” than I ever did when I was employed. Today I sent 28:emails And got quite a few projects nearly closed.
Those emails were about dogs, garden club meetings, garden club event, neighborhood bylaws, neighborhood social event, neighborhood blockncaptain business, Lily club business.
i’m taking on the presidency of my garden club soon, but I’m not sure that will be much more additional work. I already send out all of the emails for that group since the current president doesn’t like doing it. They are a happy group.
I have been very chary about taking on the president role in these little garden clubs, not because I dislike the clubs, but Because of the expectations from the higher organizations that we must attend the regional and State Events and etc. etc. That is a ton of bullshit. Honestly, if I have to sit thru another meeting and get lectured about native plants and bird habitats and etc. I’m gonna poke my eyes out with a stick.
The current president doesn’t attend those meetings which I think is hilarious. She’s not plugged into that world. She is a master of Ikebana and she orbits in the world of Ikebana which I love but I had to give up due to competing obligations.
Wow. And here I was feeling sorry for myself having to get up at 3am to prep for a colonoscopy, and then wait until 6am and, while waiting, work on a client crisis, and then go get the colonoscopy and then come home and revise a discussion guide, send out a cost estimate, do an interview, and start a report.
I'd rather do all that than write 40 emails. I don't know how you stay so motivated to do all that work.
(BTW, I had to look up Ikebana, but I can understand how it's compelling to floral designers.)

Catherine, the colonoscopy prep is miserable. UGG. I’d rather send a bunch of emails.
And I am an idiot I recounted and I didn’t send 40 emails today, it was 28. I composed several more, but then I deleted them, solving a problem with 3 phone calls.
I only actually sent 28 out of my inbox. I don’t know where I got 40. Still a lot of emails out and a lot of projects tackled today.

It was a good decision. I was so tired from getting up in the middle of the night to do the prep and so groggy from the after effects of the anesthesia, that I fell into bed as soon as I got home, slept straight through till the next morning, and was totally worthless the rest of that day. There was no way I could have worked.

I would send a bunch of emails happily versus a colonoscopy.
I would prefer to do just about anything rather than colonoscopy prep.
I guess I’m the oddball here. I didn’t find the prep for the colonoscopy to be particularly unpleasant. Sure, the drink is not delicious, but the rest of it was fine.

Mine wasn't pleasant but it also wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Definitely glad it is over with, though! LOL
Years ago when I had to clean myself out in advance of some surgery, I was given Go Lytely. Someone else called it Poop Muchly. :moon:

The very last two drinks of the colon cleaner were awful. The first 3/4…not so awful.

The very last two drinks of the colon cleaner were awful. The first 3/4…not so awful. For me, drinking the prep liquid wasn't any worse than drinking barium or various other things I've had to drink for medical reasons. Hint: Drinking almost anything will be less unpleasant if the doctor says you can drink it cold. Drinking chilled stuff sort of turns off your taste buds and makes whatever it is taste less strong.
For me the bad part was being stuck in the bathroom with constant bouts of diarrhea for four straight hours, even when the only thing still coming out was the prep liquid itself. YUCK!!!!!!!! (Sorry if TMI :|()
On a related subject: If you have a DH or some other dear male and they are told they need a prostate biopsy or a transrectal ultrasound, tell them to relax. I've had one ultrasound and two biopsies and there's nothing to it. A little pressure and maybe a slight pin prick, but that's all. No yucky prep. No anesthesia. The description and diagrams look like it would be very uncomfortable or downright painful, but it really isn't.
Note: Attached biopsy drawing depicts "boy parts" and innards. Don't click on it if you're squeamish, but it is just a diagram.

I love how we went from 28 emails to detailed descriptions of colonoscopies! (I can take credit for that, I guess)
Anyway the best part of mine was that lovely Michael Jackson nap on propofol for 20 minutes. The surgery center was top-notch. Efficient, kind, and speedy.

My ex’s experience with the biopsy was much worse and a lot of pain for a day after.

My ex’s experience with the biopsy was much worse and a lot of pain for a day after. That's odd. I'm a real crybaby if anything in my tummy or crotch hurts, and after each biopsy I walked straight out of the doctor's office, got on my motorcycle, and rode 20 miles home.
Maybe I was lucky, or maybe your ex was unlucky. I'm going to guess his urologist was either in a hurry or didn't care enough about patient comfort to do things slowly.
Or maybe he and his urologist were both unlucky that day and the biopsy needle hit a nerve. When my urologist did a digital prostate exam and mashed my prostate hard looking for small lumps, it hurt like hell, but only while he was doing it.
(I can't believe I'm talking about this stuff in a thread full of women. :|()

The practitioner may have much to do with it. Technique is everything. Probably the rough doc has been doing it that way for decades and doesnt even know his technique could be better.
when my regular dental hygienist was on maternity leave, I had a substitute whose technique was much more gentle. Unfortunately, I have no idea if my teeth were less clean with the sub.
