It's fascinating, and frustrating, that the only way a teacher can afford to live in San Francisco is by building a fancy tent in her parents' backyard, but that's reality. And she seems ok with it, which is awesome. And she's hopefully saving money towards her dream of getting land somewhere else and moving.
I couldn't tell exactly where this is but it's same the neighborhood where we lived in the city up until a year ago. The houses and backyards in our neighborhood were EXACTLY like this.
That little electric radiator heater that she has is not even remotely up to the task of keeping this place warm. I hope she owns a lot of sweaters, sweat pants and blankets. For all the flaws though, at the end of the day I think if I had to choose between a dorm room that has no contact with the outside world and this place, which has perhaps too much contact with the outside world, I think I'd choose this. Even with it located somewhere that has such a dismal climate as the west side of San Francisco.
