My sincerest thanks and gratitude to those who served, are serving and will serve. May they and their families be safe and know that they are truly appreciated.
Got my free-for-vets breakfast this morning. It was a lot more crowded than usual, as this town is one of those places that still produces a lot of volunteers for the military. Hopelessly old fashioned, I suppose.

Good for you, LDAHL! I keep saying I'm going to avail myself to the many offerings around my area, but I just can't seem to get up and get to them. Maybe next year.

I think that’s awesome Ldahl! I am very grateful for everyone’s service.
Another year gone by, another free lunch.

Park here provided a nice meal free for veteran (DH) and spouse (me). A nice presentation and a third of the park turned out. Not all the Winter Texans are here yet so that is unbelievable! It was fun!

LDAHL and happystuff, thank you for your service. Who else here has served?
My family has 4 branches of the service represented: DH, Marines; DB1, Navy; DB2: Air Force; DB3: Army. All who have taken that journey to basic training and beyond have my utmost respect and gratitude.

You welcome and my thanks to all who served and are serving as well.
Who else here has served?
Me, as well as my wife, 2 of my 4 brothers, my dad & father-in-law, every uncle on both sides of my family with the exception of one with juvenile diabetes, both grandfathers, my sister-in-law and a bevy of cousins. Oddly enough though, no nieces or nephews or adult children of cousins. I think service to country may have gone out of style.

Thank you, Alan--and thank you to your family as well. DH and I were just talking about how hard it is to recruit service people now.

Vera Lynn, "The Forces' Sweetheart", recorded a song that I happened to hear on 11/11.
Wish Me Luck as You Wave Me Goodbye
Remembrance is not limited to one day of the year.
The fraction of the military age population incapable of serving due to drugs, mental illness, obesity, illiteracy, etc. is truly appalling. The fraction unwilling to serve is truly saddening.

My husband was saying the same thing.
