Today marks the start of a time of celebration that I carry on until January 5 (Twelfth Night). Sometimes solemn, more often merry, a time for reclosing circles of family and friendship. We northern people also observe the longest night and the return of longer days. I understand that in what is now Sweden, Christian monks arrived around 1100 AD with stories of Saint Lucia of Syracuse, a patron saint of the blind.

Wishing All peace and joy never-ending.
