Well, the crazy weather keeps getting weirder. We just had a hail storm. Coastal California doesn't get hail. Or at least we didn't. Apparently we do now.

We are setting ip for our 3rd fresking snow/sleet storem tomorrow. Every Wednesday we get one.

But it isn’t really unusual for us, and after all it is February. It’s just annoying. Because yesterday the convertibles were out.

We might as well be in Siberia. I think the high today was 6. We went out for a walk not realizing it was that cold - I think my nose almost froze off. Three more days of this...

Below-freezing temperatures here and 50 knot winds. Power has been on/off for two days. At high tide, the wind was pushing the huge waves over the top of the bank at my waterfront house and splooshing onto the lawn and deck of the house, which is quite atypical.

I feel sorta bad for the neighbors from Seattle who installed an expensive lawn on their seaward side, instead of leaving the native beach grasses (which are somewhat salt tolerant).

It’s snowed twice the past few days and temperatures in low 30’s. I80 to California was closed for awhile today because of the weather. Last week it was warm.

When I was shoveling out the mailbox at the side of the street today, I took some comfort that I was not digging in the thriving city of Bozeman MT, where the windchill was -35F.

It will just be a few weeks before the snowdrops come up! (Here and in Bozeman too)

My snowdrops have been up since mid-January this year.
We are supposed to get temps near 70 today, and up to a foot of snow on Friday. Variety!

60 degrees where I am and an expected snow/sleet/rain storm to hit on Friday - go figure.

It snowed a bit yesterday, and now Yahoo says the temperature is 21. I'm bundled up in a heating pad...

It dropped from 86 degrees to 55 in 30 minutes! I was sitting on the porch when it started….. crazy!

We are seeing 30 and 40 degree swings in a day here in Maine, from zero up to above freezing.

It was in the 20's last night, woke up to snow. All melted now and just walked in from playing with the dog it was sunny and felt warm enough to not wear a coat. Weird.

Then think about the ability to grow crops in that weather. Hmm. Some crop failure already predicted in California due to warm weather earlier and cold weather now. And yea it's hitting some record lows. I mean some things have been struggling for the last 4 years, but this year seems particularly crazy.

Yeah, these cold temps in CA are not typical. Especially for someplace like where I live, near sea level and near the coast. We had a hard freeze last night. It was 28 out when SO got up this morning. The puddle left over from the rain/hail tuesday on the patio table in our backyard was frozen solid.

Had a tremendous thunderstorm blow threw last night while at work, immediately followed by high winds. On the way home, my road had a "road closed" sign up and the way was barred. Made it home to a very dark house and thought the family had forgotten about me. Nope. No power! My guess is that the winds blew something onto a power line, disrupting service. Finally came back on about a half hour ago. Realized I need more butane fuel for the camp stove. LOL.

I guess we have snowstorm moving in at the end of this week. Oh joy. And while that’s not unusual for March for St. Louis, and the snow will only last a day or two, it’s still annoying that spring is put off yet another few days or a week. Especially considering we had 80 degree weather about a week ago.

DH was able to till his part of his garden in Hermann, the part at the top of the hill that is drained. But then we got a drenching rain so he can’t be planting anytime soon.
I’m in Hermann for two days and still sleeping in the basement where it gets very cold. Brrrrr. But the furnace is in and functioning just fine in the normal part of the house. It’s just that we have no furniture there at all, nada.

IL… aren’t there vents you can open in the basement for heat?

there aren’t any events on the floors at all it’s a direct hole. But I don’t know where to go in the basement. Well the temperature in the house was 65° because we keep it low because we’re not living there so that’s part of it. It’s 5 to 10° cooler in the basement.
