Wasn't sure where to post this, but this has been an incredible day. I was without power for 10-1/2 hours ON APRIL 11, Easter week!

I trudged out and shook the wet, heavy snow off all my tender trees, lilacs, etc. Many trees broke branches and took out power lines all over my part of the city---sounded like rifle fire.

It has not snowed on this date here ever...not since such records have been kept. Over in PDX they had 2 inches downtown, and that broke their record for this date. That record goes back to 1870.

We cooked and heated water on the grill. My house got very cold and I got really cranky. However, I did manage to clean up and organize my sewing room. Just the other day I was enjoying sunshine and hiking at the coast.

We still might be in for some more snow Tuesday night...not this much though. I just can't like it even though it's pretty----it's spring, Mother Nature, you jerk!!!!

It is a very very odd year! I was grilling in the sun just a couple days ago!

I read that it's never snowed in April in Portland since records have been kept - until today. Couple this with the 116F last Summer in both Portland and Salem. OR. Mother Nature can't make up her mind on weather? Or maybe she's into equality in the sense of dishing out extremes both hot and cold? Rob

Yeah, I follow the Portland Japanese Garden on Facebook and they posted pictures and that they are closed due to weather. I had to check the date.

Spring surprises in the Northeast are not uncommon--but if you're not used to them it is very strange.

Good thing is, the snow typically goes as fast as it blew in.

Five inches! That's a lot of snow even for the dead of winter in Portland. So far, it hasn't reached here.

Wow! Glad to hear you were able to handle it. We had sleet on Sunday and two hours later it was in the low 50s. I think these type of events are only going to continue and possibly get worse.

It snowed here yesterday with the sun shining and quickly melted.

I was just mowing the back 40 in my summer clothes a couple of days ago when it hit 77 degrees.

Snowing *again* here today. Glad I slacked off on removing the snow tires from the truck!

High 50s to 70 yesterday through tomorrow. Then bad t'storms tomorrow evening, then low 40s to 50 for the next week. Unusual for northern IL this time of year - the colder temps, I mean. I'll enjoy it!

DD and family in Battle Ground WA were not happy to wake up to snow - they are so ready for Spring weather. We had snow showers down south, but nothing was sticking, I hate the wet cold.

Our last little clumps of snow melted yesterday. I did get caught in a hailstorm Thursday, but it's been mild since then. None of my plants seem worse for the wear, miraculously. We have city-wide tree damage. The sounds of saws and chippers have been nonstop.

Gregg, how cool your DD lives in BG. My DH went to high school there. My grandson and I pass through there often on our way to the fishing hole. I grew up in the next town over to the west.

We had a snow shower yesterday here in the Toronto area. I was out driving and all of a sudden it came down on me. While it didn't pile up and melted quickly due to warm temp, it was a hectic drive.

Yesterday I was out raking straw off the garden. Then this morning there were two inches of snow on the poor plants.
We, too!

Thankfully snow is just not a thing here (at least not yet). Other than the hail we got a month ago things have been kind of normal here. It was a little odd that we got almost 20 inches of rain in October, and then had almost none in January, February and most of March. This month has been on the high end of normal for April but not abnormal. I'm thankful for that since we're almost to bone dry season, so the longer we keep getting rain the shorter fire season will be.

Monday we had maybe half an inch of wet snow. Roads were clear but very pretty on the trees and such. High 60s for a few days and then 40s and 50s next week. I’ll take any cold days I can get.

It snowed last week where our kids live in Ohio. Yesterday it was 56. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 78.
