Anyone has them? Any solution? My plum tree in the backyard gets hit heavily to a point where no leaf is left behind. I use pheromone trap which helps but not a real solution.

Not an instant fix, but I've used milky spore. Its a bacteria which only impacts the larvae and is safe for humans and pets. I didn't see a impact until in years 2 and 3 after applying. It doesn't impact the adult beetle, just the juvenile form. I put it in the grass around the roses that were affected in a grid pattern (like a teaspoon every meter) so it takes a while to work through the soil.

I have no solution, but you might consider calling your local county extension office for advice. I know ours is very good about fielding calls especially about noxious weed infestations and pest control. They actually employ an entomologist.

Thats seemed like a long term solution but upon research, I found that due to temp being too cool in the spring, its not effective in Toronto climate. I guess due to this reason, home depot canada do not carry them. However, I found Grub Busters Nematodes while searching for milky spores which home depot carries. May be I will give that a try.

fwiw, I apply it in the late summer/fall when the new generation is present.

One dedicated gardener from our community garden carefully picks them off the blue spruce tree in our community garden, a tree that should not be there. He works at it throughout the summer, but he can’t reach up high.

The Garden Diva, a not smart person, paid people to pick them off in past years, paid with neighborhood funds of course. My money at work. This is the tree she planted in a place that should not have a big tree because it blocks light from garden plots. We have a 30 acre park covered in trees literally one block from our community garden.

I no longer grow much that the Japanese beetles like.
