Hi y'all. Thought it might be interesting to have a thread for us to share photos of our de-cluttering/organizing projects (preferably before and after, or at least after). De-cluttering/organizing means different things to different people, and photos more than words might help reveal our different perspectives in ways that could be enlightening to both ourselves and others. Does anyone have anything they'd like to share? I'll upload some pics of my home and office decluttering projects later this week...

I like that idea, Eric. My kitchen needs some major help, but the bookcases we made in carpentry class have provided some good storage. They were looking a bit cluttery, so in March I made it my mission to organize things in a more pleasing manner. Unfortunately, I do not have a before picture.

Wow, rosarugosa! I like the gray. Looks very organized. I need this inspiration because I plan on tackling our kitchen pantry this summer.

Well Eric, here you go! To make you happy I have cleaned out everything in my house, I just got rid of practically everything.

haha just kidding. We are moving and today the house is quite empty.

Three more days? Your soon-to-be former house looks lovely and ready for the new owners.

That looks very nice. And kudos for learning to make your own furniture Rosa, that's really inspiring. :-)

What a cute and restful bungalow you’ve got there. Your decor choices are nice with the warm wood tones and pretty blue sofa and bedspread.

I love your place, Eric. What part of the country are you in?

Nice pics Eric. This is what I fantasize with with decluttering. But the fantasy seems quite hopelessly out of reach.

Where did you get the light grey blue sofa btw? Not that I'm likely to go out and get one, mostly just curious, I do rethink my furniture sometimes.

I would say "fait accompli" for you, Eric!

Thank you Rosa. I am in south Louisiana in Covington, a small city north of New Orleans.

Thanks! I bet you're better at decluttering than you know. For me, it has been a gradual but accelerating change in philosophy with many contributing factors. Towards the end it became easier and easier to part with things that I valued and was holding on to just in case, but had long been dead weight. The end goal has been to spend more time doing things I enjoy and less on small and large projects, cleaning, organizing, etc.

That couch is from Room & Board. It's not the most comfortable; mostly got it because it was one of their less expensive models, I was worried about my cat scratching a nicer one.

Thanks Catherine!

I'm interested to see what other SLers have done to organize and declutter, and how they like to live materially in their homes. Related, but getting away from minimalism and simple living, towards what appears to be a more common range of material consumption and accumulation in the U.S.: https://anexactinglife.com/2013/04/21/book-review-life-at-home-in-the-21st-century/.

I aspire to “clean and organized clutter” as well.

While we tossed a lot of stuff before we move, I still brought a fair amount of stuff here that I had to figure out fit into a new place or not. Oh yes about the refrigerators and freezers: at the moment in this house we have five. We have one in our condo. Six for two people.

I will be cleaning out food stuffs for the next six months because we’ve been running three kitchens at times, plus we had taken spicesand other food stuff from two friends who moved households. . A lot of this crap can go.

Very nice Eric! A year ago I decluttered a cheating husband and all his crap. I now live in a clutter free condo. It’s always clean and neat. It’s very relaxing and I love it.

That sounds like a lot of healthy change Terry, excellent work. :-)
