The week after we moved from St. Louis, there was an incident across the street from our house.

Multiple perps dumped a car they had stolen. Ok that is not unusual but the big news was when the perps started arguing with each other and then began shooting each other. They shot out a car window belonging to my neighbor. No doubt my neighbors will run into those bullets in their brick work. So, those were fun times we were not able to enjoy, poor us.

And then a St. Louis story getting national attention took place in a convenience store when a robber was shot by a bystander. Shot dead. The bystander who shot the perp was a black guy, as was the perp. The bystander was cleared yesterday of all wrongdoing. Win/win.

While I am sure there will be apologists who opine that no one deserves to lose their life over a cash drawer scoop, this perp held a knife at the throat of the convenience store’s employee, and so he deserved to go down.

People at home, sleeping in their own bed, like Breanna Taylor, don't deserve to lose their lives. Nor should anyone be killed for the crime of having a broken taillight or for jogging in the "wrong" neighborhood. Armed robbers, on the other hand, are fair game, IMO.

Maybe the robber jes' wanted ta buy his momma a nice birfday gif, and needed the cash. I can't see any justification for taking the life of someone over a few dollars. Hopefully, BLM will be on the scene shortly, to turn the city upside-down over this.:thankyou:

and he only had a knife. A rather unfair match, don’t you think?. Those on this forum have wished the shooter to not kill but instead disarm the perp-with-a-knife.

yeah, really.

I totally agree Jane. Personally I am not a fan of crime which is why I live on the top floor of a secure building. I bet you are glad to be gone IL. I say the robber got what was coming to him.

I miss my old neighborhood’s beauty and I worry about getting soft out here in No Crime Land.

But I will say that it sure is nice to keep my car doors unlocked, have the garage door open at random times and leave doors to the house unlocked and not ever worry about theft and breakins.

But then---you could be out in Callyfornya, where driving as fast as you can as far as you can, full force can cause deadly disasters like this HORRIBLE car crash that killed 6(including a pregnant wummun), all african-american. The seventh person involved was a nurse from TX who was piloting her 'Cedes at a VERY high rate of speed---(even by Callyfornya standards), and slammed into the car with the 6 victims,. which then caught fire. The ICU nurse has been held on $6 million bond, after being released from the hospital with minor injuries. How do you like THAT?4683

"OK Houston. I believe we've had a problem here."

I appreciate the sense of loss of the beauty and safety of the old neighborhood.

FWIW I think fentanyl addiction contributes to the rise in property crime just about everywhere in the USA.

My home is in a community which has just 2 traffic lights and is located about 50 miles from the nearest WalMart. The crime statistics say 100% of the cities have more per capita crime than we do. When I look at the high school students, I fear that very few of them have a career opportunity in the hometown. (We need capital investment).
