I did get the AGM position. I just found out this morning. I start October 10th and am taking some PTO before that position starts. Something else cool is that I very much approve of who they have offered my supervisory.job to before they.look outside the company.
OMG. After all these years I have a job one would expect me to have with my degree and all. I will.be making what I consider very good money - t he best I have ever made. And I have no interest in upgrading anything though SO and I would like to visit Bogota and Manila.
I'm just stunned right now though I'm sure it will wear off. Am I being arrogant in my deep.relief that I've moved even further away from waiting tables?
Wow. I just don't really know what to say. Rob
I couldn't be happier for you, Rob!

Great news!
it is tough to be a manager in this environment of high employment. Everywhere I see in the fast food world they are operating at reduced hours or reduced services. I imagine grocery stores are having the same problems, so good luck!

No, you are not arrogant!! You are allowed to be proud of the journey you've travelled, and mostly you are allowed to be grateful to have others recognize your talents so that you can use them to the best of your ability--for your benefit, your SOs benefit and the benefit of your employers, customers and wider community.
You are where you're supposed to be right now!! Celebrate it! Congratulations! You are going to be a great AGM!
Rob, you are not arrogant in the slightest. Thank you for sharing your wonderful news--I am so happy for you and proud of you as well. This is terrific news.

Wonderful! Congratulations! And, no, not arrogant. What a journey you have had (and continue to have) and you should definitely enjoy it!
Congrats! Not arrogant at all. It’s a shame if you have the mindset that you can’t be proud of your accomplishments.

Congrats
Adding my congratulations!
I suspect your waiter experience gave you an insight into both how to provide customer service and enhance employee relations. You were in the trenches and have brought that experience with you. Imagine how valued your experience should be over a recent college graduate.
Congratulations, Rob! I could not say it any more eloquently than Catherine did....you should be proud and why not! You deserve it, you've worked hard and have integrity! That's a lot these days.
I hope you enjoy your PTO, and can do something nice for yourself!

That is wonderful news! Congratulations, Rob!
How wonderful to be just where you belong!
Rob, from what I have gather for our SL discussions you have a polite and sincere way of expressing opinions, sometimes to the contrary, and also listen to feedback and criticisms openly and constructively. From my humble working experience those qualities are not always common and are a great asset in the work place. Best wishes.

Thank You, each and every one of you, for your kind words. I'm about to take off with SO for Las Cruces, New Mexico and also El Paso for a few days and then Nogales on the way back to visit in-laws.
My Mother actually got teary eyed when I told her of my promotion. She said I make her and Austria proud. And my family in Vienna was congratulatory as were my in-laws in Nogales, MX. It has been so nice to have all this support. I do feel like Sally Field at the Oscar's- You really like me lol.
At any rate, I took 7 days of PTO. I still have 11 days in my PTO bank after this and next trip - either Bogota or Manilla if and when the world simmers down a bit.
Ending by saying - I really am fortunate. I do believe hard work had something to do with this but also I believe luck was also involved. Had not the tenp banquet service promoted me and had the pandemic not happened, I doubt I'd be here. Part of it is also seizing the day and making the most you can of your abilities/strengths and also behaving agreeably at work.
Thanks again, you'all. Rob
Luck is always a part of it, hard work not as much.
Yours is kind of an international success story. :)

Hard work also was in play. Rob would not have gotten the promotion if they did not see he worked hard, I am sure. What is the saying? .... Success is when preparation meets opportunity!
Congratulations and best wishes in the new position going forward!

I thought the saying was "It's not what you know, but who you know." :D
You're not the cynic I am, but there's no doubt Rob was a hard-working, responsible employee.
