Okay--In addition to the Balloon Crisis, the US gummint is now claiming that it's unsafe for any American to be present in Russia, for fear of arrest on Trumped-up charges. See? To me, it is all an effort to justify an incursion into________(name the place of a no-mans-land, populated historically by lesser peoples)), in order to wage another mini-war, for the next 15 years. Or maybe--try out some high-dollar long-range missiles. Yup. By comparisson, when Oswald traveled to the SU, it was at the height of the so-called cold war. He wasn't the only one; there were 2 or 3 dozen other US defectors, during the same time frame! Stalins' daughter later emigrated to the US! But now--the Good Guys are saying for gods sake---get out! Okay---Companies in Russia are major exporters of ammo used in sport rifles and milsurp weapons in countries inhabited by the Good Guys. But yeah---The Josef Regime has clamped down a bit on imports into the US, just for spite. Like he & his boy were paid to do. However, there will be no shortages--the slack will be taken up by former SU satellite countries, after existing contracts expire. See how that works? But you know what---the time might be now, for you kids to avail yourselves of bargain-priced tourist packages to places in Russia. Maybe Kamchatka, maybe the JAO. The present situation will add a little cachet and envy for you, upon your return. Yup. Just don't take any contraband---anywhere. Remember when your rock idol Carts tried bring a little pot into Japan, awhile back, and was detained? Yup. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

I was planning a trip to St. Petersburg (via the ferry from Helsinki) right before Covid hit, so that put those plans on hold.

Then Russia invaded Ukraine, so I suspect the trip will be postponed indefinitely.

I certainly wouldn't set foot in Russia or some of the other affiliated countries at the moment.
