Maybe this could be a recurring thread for places to share houses/rooms/colors/styles/furniture that you like!
I'm starting with this spread in House & Garden. I battle with color, because I really like it, but DH LOVES it--too much. So I have to constantly talk him into the right balance. I think this house has it--although he would NEVER let me paint the walls ALL white. I love the look and feel of this cottage.

that cottage is absolutely darling. I love everything about it. But it IS a 16th century cottage so who wouldn’t like it?
I love the vibe except for the wallpapered bedrooms. Those are way to busy for my taste and I feel like they aren't very restful.

That was exactly what I thought, too. I really like the open kitchen and the use of light and the green cabinets.
I don't mind the wallpaper. I know it's a throwback, and that no one wallpapers anymore, except occasionally for accent walls. But I definitely think the small patterned floral paper is in keeping with the English country look, which I like. I wouldn't mind being surrounded by flowers while I sleep.
I also like wallpapers for accent walls--I think it was this particular one I did not care for. I love Marimekko wallpapers. And also William Morris wallpapers.

I've always been a big fan of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement, but while I love Craftsman style, I wouldn't use it in my house. It wouldn't go, style-wise, and the patterns, which tend to be dark, would make the house seem even more closed in. The Marimekko is more fun.

I like all of the wallpaper in this house. And I do like that bedroom with the angled ceilings and wallpaper because it’s a small pattern.
This designer has many pieces of bobbin furniture. That stuff is trendy right now, I know because I have some newly manufactured pieces myself.

It definitely can be overwhelming. I like Willow but would not even put that in this house as I need more light in here. I painted one room blue, the dining room, and half the time it feels really dark to me, but everybody else likes it, so I guess it will stay that way. Everything else is white.

I guess I have simplified because it looks like there is just too much "stuff" everywhere except maybe the kitchen. I just seem to find all that color too over-whelming and "busy". I like the structure, itself, but would prefer "less".
We used to eat in this restaurant in Michigan that had very 70's wallpaper that always made me happy, but it was extremely busy:

Here is a Marimekko I like:

I probably like quilting because I'm drawn to pattern on pattern, color upon color. Sterile backgrounds scream out for relief to me.

this is pretty and simple, and I like the restaurant wallpaper too. I probably like a little bit more because it’s a warm color and that’s what I gravitate to.
I'd trade my MCM house for that quickly. The big window in the kitchen is really nice. If it were mine, I'd knock down the clutter by about 50%. And I'm not big on pure white everywhere and would repaint some with hints of very light pastels. My main room is painted "glow", with just a touch of yellow. Wall paper would go. Does not look energy efficient.

That's a lovely shade of blue, but I'm with you in gravitating toward warm colors.
Tybee: I like that blue and white wallpaper. Those are my colors.

I do not like too much white, though. I do like the warmth the carpet brings to the room.

So weird, I don’t see clutter in that darling 16th century cottage. I see curated vignettes with strategically placeed items for this photo shoot. There are pretty and bright colors and patterns in fabrics and furniture. But clutter? I can’t see it.
Funny how oir eyes are all so different.

To me this is a classic look: warm Persian rug on floor, cream colored upholstery, brick/wood accents. I always like it but cannot have the cream upholstery, even in slip covers, because pets.

I don't see clutter as it is usually defined, but it is busy, very much a "more is more" look. I suppose one could easily say the plates on the wall, the plants, the vases etc. are clutter but they are clearly part of the look.
It's nice to look at model houses to a degree, but realistically one's house is no more going to look like that than one is going to look like an actress or a supermodel, and it's about as useful in breeding dissatisfaction. Or I am poor I guess.

I will never look like a super model.
My house CAN be worthy of photo shoots, however. I mean, photo shoots at the local level, not Architectural Digest worthy spreads. My neighbor’s place in my condo building was just last week featured in The St. louis Post Dispatch’s weekly decor article. In that building we tend to place importance on decor.

Okay---I just know you kids will declare omg omg omg that the interior of my backyard cottage is absolutely darling! Yup. But yeah---I may visit Precious MNoments in Carthage, Zurra after hours, and go dumpster diving for factory rejects & blemished stock, for beyond darling figurines to decorate my cottage. BOTOH---maybe I won't. Don't have time. Nope. That said--you kids WILL adore the govt surplus file cabinets and leftover walmart Xmas lights & old saw chains I'm using to doll it up. Hope that helps you some. Same to you, fella, as Bob Newhart used to say. Prolly still does. Yup.

it was hilarious, agreed. Curated and styled coffee tables are a thing for sure. Yes it’s silly. I can’t help it.
I liked what he said about rich people not using color. That is actually how I think of rich women’s clothing. I once read that old money women dress in beiges and tans and earth colors. They certainly have whites for summer, but in winter it’s camel, or some version of it.

I just watched it! It is funny! His accent really helps..
And I like the line about color, too. Thinking about my colorful house, does that mean I'm poor? I guess if the shoe fits...
Yes, I do see the blue bloods wearing a lot of white in the summer New England--they can afford to get their clothes dry cleaned after every wearing.
OMG, this is it. You guys who don't like a lot of color will not like this, but I think THIS house is the perfect model for me. It is so happy.

this is wonderful use of color. Orange is tricky but I love the way this homeowner uses orange, picking it up in the floral artwork. I love this place and I could live in it exactly the way it is.
Me, too. I love the orange and the dreamy blues.
I like the Stockholm house a lot. It feels naturally cheerful without pretense.
I love the Stockholm house too, but would cut back the tchotchkes, books, and bric-a-brac. I LOVE that deep sink. The colors, to me, are "lifting."
I actually love it, although I agree that I would prefer a little less stuff. I think it works for me because there is a liberal use of background colors that are so serene, and then there are pops of brighter color to warm things up.
Orange is my least favorite color (followed by red), but I've come to realize that it's one of my most favorite colors in the garden. It is so warm and cheerful, and I don't find it overpowering with the backdrop of green one typically has in the garden.
