View Full Version : Finland Joins NATO
I see Finland has become the 31st member of the alliance. The Russian Federation is muttering the usual threats.

Why didn’t they join NATO prior to this?

Okay---if you will read your history books, you'll be aware of the time that Finnland & Russia had a conflict, where Those Commies invaded(or attempted to) Finnland. But, guess what? The Ruskies didn't fare too well. Nope Sooo, they retreated. But yeah---Simo Hayha has become legendary & iconic, and Finn-capture Mosin-Nagant rifles are highly collectible. So, yeah---Finland prolly figured: why join a group like nato that will get us obligated to join foreign wars that have nothing to do with Finnish security? See? But yeah---now you kniow. End of story. Thankk mee.

Bobby, I appreciate your background, but everything we need to know about Finland is contained in clips about the Finnish Prime Minister from VEEP

I do wonder if NATO has charged Finland for decades of back dues when they were not participating when the threats we’re not directly on their doorstep.

But yeah--you were seing if a nitwit like littlebittymee knew anything. So anyway---My opinions are not based upon some recently-generated propaganda moo-vvee or tee-vee trash. . Nope. Just based upon history. Which would you trust? Thank me now, or thankk mee later.

Bobby, I was just joshing you because I had been watching youtube clips of Mena the Finnish Prime Minister yesterday. She’s one of the side characters in “ Veep” who make my stomach hurt from laughing.

Okay---Since a good many people are joiners, I've decided to get up a petition & gather signatures for a constitutional Ammendment or whatever, for the USA to become a member in good standing of the British Commonwealth. That way, if those Argentines start encroaching upon the Falklands again, why---we'll unleash the stealths & the B-52's on 'em. Then, an all-out invasion & occupation for the next 40-50-60-70 years! That'll teach em! Yup. God save the King! Hope that helps you some./

Take a peek at the history of Finland. Fascinating place.
I spent a fascinating afternoon chatting with old old dudes at this museum last time I was in Helskinki, and it was quite enlightening:

Because NATO is a terrorist organization, that Europe has to be in, so Germany can control themselves from themselves, and the US can control and use everyone. NATO is responsible for multiplier wars, not even counting the ones started by the US, for instance, France, the UK and others are responsible for the genocide in Yemen, 400 thousand were killed and 16 million starving. Why would they want to belong? For the same reason others are in, you belong to a gang in prison to defend yourself from other gangs, but you have to do the dirty work as well.

Awesome & amayzeen! That'll teach 'em ta mess with mee. Yup.

Family in Poland is thrilled to be in NATO after spending much of their lives under Russian oppression. Mostly empty stores, standing in line all day trying to get food and not being able to travel was a horrible way to live.
I find it telling that some of NATO’s most enthusiastic members were formally in Russia’s “sphere of influence”. People can spout all the anti-Western propaganda they like, assigning blame for every bush war and rainy day in history, but one only has to look at how Russia has behaved toward anyone they could push around to see who the bad guys are.

Finland realized that NATO is like a gun, that Americans like so much to have. Many say they don't want it, or need it, or like it, but they'll all want to have it once things go bad. Sometimes, things go bad, and you don't have a chance to think again: I want a gun. They had a chance, and they'll have to betray their morals just so they can be defended if those without morals attack them.
It's like that quote from the series True Detective: "You need bad men, they keep other bad men from the door". I sometimes think about it, I dislike so much the American foreign polices, but thank god they exist bombing every shithole on earth, we'd be screwed if those Arabs with their prehistorical mentality got in charge.
