This morning we went out to the Hermann Farm to see Black Shire horses being trained in plowing. Jack and Sam were in harness when we got there.
Another guy had been in harness, but he got tired, and they took him out. He is younger and doesn’t have the muscle mass that Jack and Sam have.

Okay---I got a brilliant idea, so you kids can be real Cool. Get some a them horses, and plow up your lot, and put your 1/2 acre of ground under cultivation. See? But yeah---then grow FRESH organic produce, like zuccinnni's and stuff, and supply it to a cerrtain restaurant back in da hood in SanLo. See? That will give them another operating gimmick. You bet. Doesn't THAT sound Cool? Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

53465346We saw the famous Royal Lipizzaner horses at Stallburg In Vienna Austria. Learning about the history and how they are chosen was interesting and they work for a few months and then get time off to relax and play in the countryside at a stable just for them. I have always loved horses and used to ride when younger.

My introduction to the Royal Lipizzaner horses was through the Disney movie Miracle of the White Stallions. Immediately fell in love with them!

They are very playful and loving with the workers. It’s one of the requirements and if they notice that a horse no longer is enjoying it then they get an early retirement. It’s nice that they are treated so well.

Thanks for sharing that, IL! Not surprised the younger one tired out -breaking new ground is hard work, poor "little" guy! Jack and Sam are simply lovely. As are most all equines, IMHO. I bought my first horse, a large Appaloosa gelding, when I was 9, with money I'd saved like forever. But I've not had a horse of my own for many years - now I just love the heck out of other people's horses. Much less work and expense that way... TT, I first "met" Lipizzaners in Airs Above the Ground, by Mary Stewart. I read that book so many times! I've seen the touring Lipizzaner Stallions three times but alas, have never been to The Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Or to Vienna at all, for that matter, lol. But Hermann, I've been to, and now have more reason to revisit.
