NOT..ha! Found the “perfect” mobile home today. It is in the area we want to be, has an awesome layout and is well maintained! We have been looking all the time we have been wintering in TX. This is the first one that meets all the criteria. Interestingly, it looks very average from the outside (it needs a little paint) but is truly spacious and lovely in the inside. We bought it! We probably should have tried talking the price down more but didn’t want to lose out! Oh well, it is only money! At this point, it is a verbal commitment but am sure we will “get er done”! Crazy on how things are working out! I’m thankful!

I don’t want to be a downer but I hope it has a tornado shelter. I have lived in Texas and they get many of them.

WI had a lot of tornadoes. The clubhouse here has protection…. not a worry. Also think it depends where in TX you are. It is a big state.

Interesting when I lived in Wisconsin we rarely had tornadoes but I lived in Kenosha. I lived in Wichita Falls and I have a friend near Fort Worth. We also had a ton of them in Kansas. Between April through September we spent a lot of time in the basement.

Last night there were tornado warnings for the county I lived in Wisconsin. In 4 years I have never seen tornado warnings for where we reside in TX. It all depends where you live.

Thanks all for your words of encouragement. Hopefully, this will be the place we belong?? If nothing else, the grocery store, restaurants and shopping all nearby or within walking distance. We talked to a gal yesterday that took her golf cart to the grocery store. This sounds like a good place to age in place????

Are you near the coast? Aren’t you in the Rio Grande Valley now? If you’re near the coast, are there hurricane scares coming your way in the future? Hurricanes don’t scare me all that much because you have plenty of warning to get out of town.

I would be more concerned with Texas summer heat than any other weather. It can be brutal from June to October. If near the coast, there is at least a breeze.

Near McAllen, TX …. Breezy. Record heat. DH says he doesn’t mind the heat but I do. In the future, will leave during the hottest months. That being said, I am thankful to be here this year. We needed a home base after selling the house. Rent is cheap. It gave us a taste of what summers here entail. The hurricanes either go north of here or south via Mexico. At least that has been the trajectory the past 4 years. DH says he can deal with the heat more than the ice and snow! We now go for a walk early in the morning or early evening. Winters in the north are more limiting.

We were down in that area for a month or so this past winter. I liked it!

Will you be renting in the north in the summer? I forget what the plan was for the summers.

We have time to decide but thinking of traveling different places for maybe a month at a time?? There are a number of places on our list.
