I'm watching the piece on Chris Christie on CBS Sunday Morning. He was my governor, and he was a GOP gov in a very blue state. He made mistakes for sure, but overall, I consider him a good governor.

His talking points are #1 Trump; #2 Trump; #3 Trump. That makes him an outlier among the other sycophant GOP candidates. What do you guys who lean Republican think of Christie as an option, opposing Trump?

Nope. I wouldn't vote for him for Cemetery District Commissioner.

stupid political shenanigans. If there’s anyone who has served in a political position of size who has not done stupid political shenanigans, please bring them to the forefront.

Christie is out there speaking out against Donald Trump so for that I gave him a little bit of love. When Bari Weis interviewed him and asked him why he supported Donald Trump years ago, he said the Republican program is better than the Democratic program so that is why he was supporting the Republican leader.

Yeah, that Fort Lee scandal was a BIG mistake, and unfortunately it shined an unfortunate light on his character. But whatever his character flaws, I'd take them over Trump's. And if he can convince enough people that Trump is not the prophet and national benefactor many think he is, I'd support him. I don't think the other GOP candidates have the .... guts.

Wasn't there an incident where he closed the beaches due to budget issues, then took his family there to vacation? Based on the current Republican line up I could vote for him in a primary. He communicates well and seems honest, relatively speaking.

Yup, another PR disaster.

But if he can convince some fence-sitter Republicans and Independents who are wary of Trump to vote for anyone else on the GOP ticket, I'm all for it.

Just a novelty act unlikely to make a significant difference. I’m always wary of guys the media anoint as their favorite Republican.

I've seen him at press conferences bullying people, and--as I've mentioned ad nauseum--I hate bullies. But I agree that he's better than the mob boss poised to run against him.

I just thought that loud bullying mob types come from Jersey and surrounds. Loud, pushy.

Sure I prefer New England Yanks, and Midwesterners.

Hurd, Pence, Hutchinson are also speaking against Trump. He is not an outlier.

You may have a point; I'm not familiar with eastern regional quirks. I'd be fine with the laconic Maine stereotype, as I don't talk much either.

This election, the loud, bullying type(s) are going to make the most noise. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I wouldn't depend upon the laconic Maine folks to unseat Trump.

I understand and personally appreciate what he’s trying to do. Save his party from the fate that Lindsay Graham predicted would happen if they made trump the nominee in 2016. I imagine Christie is realistic enough to realize that his chances of getting the nomination are about the same as Liz Cheney’s.

I heard RFK Jr in person yesterday. Great centrist candidate, took one unscreened question after another from people all across the political spectrum and answered them with substance and deep knowledge of both foreign and domestic affairs. No wonder Biden is afraid to debate him.

Very tight security. We all had to be body wanded and also have our purses examined. You can tell given his family history he is scared to run but he's doing it anyways for the good of the country. No Secret Service - the campaign is spending a third of its budget on this which Biden gets for free. In 2019 I heard 13 different candidates speak and there was no security like this.

The security was very tight when I went to see Bernie, and they searched like that too. Not to deny your point, that it's probably extra high due to Kennedy name.

When I saw Bernie in 2019 there was no security, but it was a paid event so maybe they figured that weeded some people out.

When Biden was running for president I saw him at a local college and although he had secret service personnel they didn’t check anyone as they went in. He took questions from people.

Kennedy is not running for the good of the country. All presidents leave the office rich or soon after from books, speaking engagements, etc. I don’t know anyone that would vote for him. I would like a smart, moderate candidate but it’s not him.

Kennedy is already rich. He can earn more as a lawyer than president. He already has books published. Various Kennedys have served in government with no pay.

Kennedy is definitely not moderate if by that you mean he will continue the Uniparty policy of endless wars. He is more like Tulsi Gabbard.

The media I see has labeled RFK JR. a conspiracy theorist and most of his own family seems to have distanced themselves from him. Maybe he can bring a few conspiracy theorist Trumpsters over to the dems, but I don't think he's much of a contender for a primary. The conservatives seemed to like his book bashing Fauci.

If he were really such a wacko you would think Biden would want to debate him because he would be an easy target.

I was first attracted to Kennedy when I read Charles Eisenstein's endorsement of him; I really admire his work with the environment, but I can't get behind his theories related to the medical world, such as his stance on vaccines and allergies.
