On another long and boring day at the office I sent an email to HR asking about the pay for an internal job posting, since we don't have grades. Then I will decide whether to apply and if selected for an interview see how that goes. Who knows if the posting is a formality and they already have someone they want?
Advantages:
1. Is similar to work I do now and can do well at.
2. "Work proficiently with minimal supervision and be able to provide feedback on systems/processes." I have the minimal supervision now but not the opportunity for feedback.
3. Closer to home, 35 vs 50 miles
4. Is in New Hampshire where I dream of moving to someday, and if I do and both live and work in NH I would pay no state income tax.
5. No external customer interaction and in a town that is not a fan of masks (had them optional in the schools during covid) vs where I work now there have been both state and municipal mandates. If they come back my boss said he won't enforce it on me, but if a customer whines to the Board of Health it could be an issue and there are lots of Karens in Mass.
Disadvantages:
1. It's payables which I don't like as much as receivables.
2. Reports to a woman and that's an unknown. On average I find it easier to work with men. I am the only woman in my current office.
3. While it's fewer miles it's about 10 minutes longer to commute because it's more secondary roads.
4. While the roads are pretty flat and not minor, they are not the highway. Probably okay in winter but not sure.
5. If a recession hits and I am laid off unemployment benefits in NH are much less generous than in MA.
