Trashed some Rescue Remedy that I had bought for the cats to try to calm their fighting lately. Heard it was just hocus pocus bs but at least wanted to give it a shot. No effect except that the cats wouldn't eat their food whenever the stuff was applied to it. Just going to have to wait it out and hope the forced separation doesn't last too long.

I gave away 3 items through our local Buy Nothing group - 2 pairs of shoes and a pair of pants.

Gave my daughter in law 4 full makeup products that were the wrong shade for me--she was very happy.
Gave my son a board game we tried once but it needs more players and they play with larger groups.

Two jackets into the yard sale pile and two into the garbage. (One closet done and working on the other. Trying to combine all coats and jackets into one)

As I'm moving stuff around and cleaning up the cellar from the subfloor-replacement mess, I'm getting rid of a lot of things like jars, paper bags, takeout containers, etc. It's good to have some of these items on hand because we do tend to use them, but less real estate will be allocated to them going forward.
We got rid of a case of old hard cider we will never drink, a bunch of clothes hangers, and a few little wooden clementine crates. I've filled up 2 recycle bins and 2 trash bags from the cellar in the past few days.

WTG, rosa! That's a lot of stuff gone! It's so good to read about everyone's accomplishments. Getting rid of stuff is difficult for me, I see value in almost everything and I am so adverse to adding to the waste stream. But when (if ) I get around to tackling our cellar, I'll have a lot of stuff to jettison, too. Hoping to rehome a lot of it - canning jars, flower pots, etc. Still, it's easy to ignore it down there! DD and I went through our glassware/extra plates storage shelves, finally putting away the Christmas mugs and setting out some others for daily use. I managed to cull a Star Trek glass (gave to second child), 10 mugs, 3 restaurant-ware plates, an ironstone bowl, a blown glass pitcher, and a cranberry and clear flash-edged pressed glass scalloped bowl (that was a wedding present to my aunt in the late 30s). Those will sell - so they haven't left the house just yet, but I no longer consider them mine, so I'm counting them! AND Friday we took a large load to the antique mall (two large tubs & two paper boxes of misc. smaller stuff, a trellis, a 50 lb cement swan planter, a vintage quilt, and a propeller) so that made a small (and temporary lol) dent. Hoping to get outside to start purging dead branches soon!

Congrats to everyone on the purging! Reading everyone's progress is very motivating. Thanks!

Yes, purging dead branches is a regular task around here! I cleaned the above the sink medicine cabinet. Didn't get rid of anything...but it looks very nice!

I'm continuing to make progress on my cellar clean-up. I have another bag ready for trash pickup next week.

I also saw this on Facebook and felt compelled to share with you all:

Love that picture. After being tired so much the last year, and thinking it was my give a sh***r going out due to the idiot owner saying one thing and doing another, I am far behind. Now cleaning up the house after being out of it for almost three months, cleaning up, sorting, getting rid of stuff, thinking of dumpster(s) for both the current house (cat furniture), and my prior house, I actually feel like I have got more accomplished in the last week then the last six months.

My late boss and friend had a half joke about this,
Put a dumpster in your driveway.
Have the Goodwill/charity/donation guys park in front of your house.
Park your moving van, a block away.
See what you really think is worth carrying to that.

Love the picture!

Have been finishing up the first big closet. As previously stated, got rid of about 5 jackets/coats and several tools - most broken. Am going through the two toolboxes (yes, I know that is one too many but...) and getting rid of as many duplicates as possible. Most are going into the pile for the next town wide yard sale.

I finally realized I can pitch the notebooks from when I took my catechist course (multiple classes) more than a decade ago. I don’t teach at all, plus they’re in my chicken scratch handwriting I have a hard time reading after the fact. LOL. They’re mostly in Moleskine journals, maybe 8-10 of them, plus a couple of spiral notebooks. That should free up most of a storage container.

When we moved to Hermann DH threw away notebooks from his college courses from 1972+ . I am not kidding here.

Did a lot of digital purging today. One of the seniors at church asked for some help with her new iPad. Thousands of unread emails (she had an older iPad so her kids transferred data to the new one). That made me go through saved emails and such. I tend to have pretty clear inboxes (GMail and iCloud accounts), so stuff is organized in folders. Got rid of a lot. Need to go through photos, too.

I constantly purge photos. I haven’t completed my 2023 deletion of emails though. Should get on that I suppose.

Speaking of photos in the cloud, DH mentioned yesterday that he has a full account on iCloud because of all the photographs of Iris I took on his phone. I have no memory of this photographic event would apparently took place several years ago. I asked him why he didn’t tell me the sooner if this was a problem. I can hardly do something about a problem if I don’t know about it,

That said, I pay $.99 a month to Apple for my iCloud space to store photos.

I’m donating a couple of things to our garden club’s annual sale of antiques and collectibles.

I got rid of crap tons of that kind of stuff when we moved a couple of years ago. But lo and behold, I have still accumulated a couple of things that need to go.

Right now I’m wrestling with a remnant from my parents house, a glass chandelier. I know I’m not gonna hang it in a Hermann house. It’s not worth a lot of money. I have some interest in removing the glass dangles from it and using those in other projects. But I’m not sure if I’m going to do that and I’ll talk to my sister-in-law when she comes this weekend because she may have an opinion on it. If she wants some of the glass dangles, then I guess we will take it apart. if she doesn’t want any of the glass dangles, I may donate the glass chandelier en whole.

IL, why not send it back to the house via the historic society that bought the house?

oh, the historical society was never able to muster the funds to buy the house, so it was purchased by a developer. In fact, it just went back on the market today after he spent a year fixing it up.

It’s not a nice restoration, but it is an adequate one.

The chandelier is circa 1965 and there’s nothing nice about it for a Victorian house.

Beautiful woodwork.

was really nice about the woodwork is that the living room is cherry and the living room has two giant doors into it. Side is cherry, the side, the faces, the living room, and the other side that faces out into the hall is oak where the rest of the house has oak woodwork .

We had a similar era house in the Chicago area and the woodwork, the pocket doors, the glazed tile around the fireplace--the two staircases! Still miss that house in some ways.

Got rid of the shutters, the silverware (niece and nephew, needed some), and a box of misc junk. Family brought over my cats and a power chair, and I picked up my medical supplies and am moved back home. Mom is still paranoid I am going to magically have problems, since moving back home. The big issue I think I am facing is going to have to charge groceries (something I said I would never do), since I am coming up on my fourth uncashable paycheck, thanks to the idiot.

Another piece of Easter decor. A little bunny that I got from Etsy a few years ago. Just not liking it anymore. It won't sit right no matter how much I try to reposition it.

Actually just the opposite. Smooshes down and looks like a potato sitting on my side table. Haha!!

Via my local FB page, I've given away 3 light fixtures, a ceramic light switch plate, and a small bookcase.
