Sure didn't seem to be showing during last night's speech. I assume republicans will have to find a new fake thing now that "Sleepy Joe" has been shown to be as much of a lie as everything else that comes out of their mouths these days.

Even if you're on to something, he shouldn't have to be dosed regularly.

He did really well last night demonstrating he's not just conversant with the issues but can think on his feet. He can do equally well at the one debate they'll likely have.

Do you think his handlers can rein in Trump till November, and his lawyers keep him out of jail?

No, I don't think anyone can rein him in and yes, I think he'll stay out of jail till November.

Probably true. He seems to have a majority of the Supreme Court in the bag for him. Most notably the world’s ultimate DEI hire.

I’m sincerely glad he did well last night since I will likely vote for him. Ugh. I did not watch it.

First the media, now the SCOTUS. Is there no limit to his insidious influence?

It's a ridiculous conspiracy theory. If there were really magic anti-Alzheimers/dementia drugs, do you really think we wouldn't know about them? It's on the level of the elite really have secret cures for cancer, covid, the common cold ... we just don't know about it. I mean come on. That there are some cures they can more readily afford, and have their pick of the best docs, I mean sure fine whatever. But there is no dementia cure. Amphetamines can help ADHD (if one has ADHD and chooses to medicate that way), which I've never once heard Biden being diagnosed with (but if he was, oh well), not dementia.

But it's actually more likely Trump takes amphetamines than Biden (oh I didn't say for dementia). So it's possible projection coming from him.

Really good Remnant podcast today where Jonah Goldberg attacks this weird belief that the survival of America as we know it depends on the next election. It’s called “Take a Deep Breath”.

I don’t think President Biden has Alzheimer’s, or even diagnosable dementia. I just think he’s very old.

Maybe no amphetamines but I’d be willing to bet my house that he had a deeply restful nap, a good dinner, and lots of hydration before he gave the state of the union speech. The oldsters need hydration or else they loose it.

No. I’m saying that a middling law student with a Harvard degree wasn’t destined to be a Supreme Court justice unless he also happened to also be a black man. Since there are so few people with those characteristics he was a ‘right man/right place’ kinda guy.

Maybe I'm too sensitive but this constant emphasis on the dire consequences of being older just magnifies our cultural obsession with youth.

I agree. Or that older people have lost their useful value to society. Not that it's a relevant issue, but it's a little overdone. Or being a senior, I'm just a little sensitive.

I guess you’re talking about Clarence Thomas here, a “middling” Harvard law graduate. In today’s climate some would consider you a racist for this diminishment.

All nine Supreme Court justices agreed Trump cannot be kept off the Colorado ballot. I’m not sure why you’re singling out Clarence Thomas other than you like to.

Radical Democrats are still upset that their "high tech lynching" of Clarence Thomas nearly 35 years ago didn't pan out as they wished. Those guys seem to hold long grudges against uppity (conservative) negroes.

It's interesting that a thread about Biden quickly turns to denigration of Thomas from a supporter. Biden chaired that attempted "lynching" all those years ago.

PS: He graduated from Holy Cross, then Yale law school, not Harvard.

I’m curious what republicans think about Thomas’s acceptance of major travel gifts and momma house purchase from people that have issues before the court but I assume I won’t get an honest response.

We hear about that "issues before the court" claim a lot but ProPublica investigated this recently and couldn't find any evidence of it being true. Maybe you could enlighten us?

Again, perhaps you have additional information to share?

old people making significant contributions to their communities and our society = good thing

old people running this country in top positions= not a good thing

we can have two thoughts simultaneously about old people

Curious that your quote exonerating the DEI doesn't mention Harlan Crow, the DEI's maximal sugar daddy. I wish I had someone that would've bought my Momma's house and let her live there rent free forever. And bought me an RV. And taken me on nice vacations. I'm sure he did all that just because he's a really generous dude and not because he and his business entities had business before the court...

I'm sure that would be easy enough to check although I suspect maintaining the narrative, outside of facts, might be more valuable to the Thomas haters.

AndI’m sure you can discount the facts presented in the propublica article in the same way you can discount the facts from that sad senator from Alabama. Not with truth but with strongly held believes.

In this particular case it's Uncle Tom on the supreme court. He absolutely would be a big fat sad nobody if he hadn't been a black man with a fancy pants law degree despite his mediocre grades in law school. If Thurgood Marshall hadn't died at the right (wrong?) time we would be fortunate to have never heard of his sorry ass.

Gosh, that's a pretty offensive thought to memorialize in print. What makes you call him an Uncle Tom other than the fact he doesn't seem to play on the (D) team?

It's sad the unethical shitbaggery that this particular justice hurls on the american public. If jack smith has the evidence to charge the DEI justice's wife for her involvement in J6 I fully expect this pathetic justice to refuse to recuse. It's just not his style to be ethical.

But since you all seem to love him so much I'm curious what opinions he's written that you've found excellent and that justify his existence on the supreme court? He's been there long enough that I"m sure you both have plenty of examples of his excellent jurisprudence.

I tend to think you're correct, IL. And maybe something for ADHD.

It's not Alzheimer's he suffers from, as those of us who know people with Alzheimer's will readily attest.

Kidding now, but how about Geritol, which most of us will remember, and which I only now realize shares the same root as "geriatric." When I was a child and Geritol was popular, I don't remember knowing it was being pitched to old folks. Whatever was in it?

Regarding Thomas, his appointment was poisoned for me by the (reluctant) testimony of Anita Hill. I believed her. Few young women in the workplace at that time would have thought his alleged behavior unlikely or shocking. His lying under oath about its commission would have been unsurprising too.
One of the joys of being female at this period in time, in the United States at least, is knowing our daughters are so much safer from predatory coworkers and bosses.

I would say the same thing about any loser like him. Your question is, of course, a hypothetical since we have never seen a supreme court justice who was as much of a mediocre law student and who has happily taken "thank you" gifts in the way this chitbag has... May he rot in hell.

I heard this podcast. Liked it a lot!

i have always liked Goldberg and in this he seems very much in alignment with my view: the country isn’t going ro fall apart if the wrong ticket wins in November 2024. Biden will not bring down the country. Trump will not bring down the country (although it would be a closer thing with Trump.)

Also, he did not listen to State of the Union or the rebuttal. As did I.

He had a fanciful thought about Trump’s running mate: the Trump team does not want a rational, realistic politician in the VP role because that would make a Trump impeachment more palatable. Ha, there may be some truth in that spin.

I always listen to “The Remnant”. It speaks to my antediluvian free market, free speech, limited government, colorblind view of how the world should be.

I do agree that the two main party choices for VP will likely be even worse than the president candidates.

okay---whatever happened to ol joe being ineligible for the office on account of plagiarism, like he was back in 88? maybe there's a statute o' limitations on that. ha. but yeah---i really think it's all because the truly capable and talented people don't want to get involved in leadership roles like potus, 'cause they know the hazards. so, they stay in the background, running the machine. that all said, the obvious solution is to throw-the-baby-out-with-the-bathwater, by having an honest, fraud-proof election next fall. Regime Change.
