The cat hair is flying around here now on our hardwood floors. We took our big cat who produces the most hair outside on the deck to do a major combing.

I bit the bullet and ordered a robot vacuum. It’s a very inexpensive one that was very highly rated. It was $99. It doesn’t do anything fancy.

And that’s what I want, I want to try out a robot vacuum that doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles because I’ll be damned if I will sit and read a manual on how to run the stupid thing.

We shall see if it’s easier than sweeping.

What model and do you program it or does it figure it out?
Considering one for maintenance although it won't deep clean.

Sorry, I can’t find the exact make and the invoice doesn’t make it clear. But it was $99 and got very high rating at one source. And it doesn’t do anything fancy including it cannot be programmed.

When we still had our orange kitties one of them was an especially prolific shedder. Thankfully he loved to be broshed. One afternoon we were sitting on our deck and I spent probably a half hour brushing him, orange fur floating off on the breeze. About an hour later a big blob of fur came floating back to us after floating around the neighborhood the whole time...

Our current little girls don't shed nearly as much so the biweekly vacuuming our housekeeper does is sufficient.

Well, here it is October and I still have not taken our new robot vacuum out of its box. I dread setting it up even though it’s not heavily computerized. it may require me to read instructions and I don’t like doing that.

Oh Iris! I just started looking at them. I was sort of waiting for a report from you HA!! But, do let us know when you set it up and the labor involved. Thanks.

I have two of the Roombas that have automated docking/recharging/emptying stations. They took very little time or effort to set up.

I still pre-vacuum the house with a Dyson Animal, as my Bloodhound (and until recently my cat) produce a huge amount of hair, and the poor Roombas spent most of their time trying to plow through the drifts of fur and empty themselves.

My current system is a quick prevacuum with the Dyson (though I suppose a rake or combine would work as well), and then let the Roombas do their thing for a few days.

Best of both worlds.
