View Full Version : Car shopping out of necessity
My Escape has seen better days. Transmission issues now. I’m car shopping. Looking at a Subaru Crosstrek. I’ve always bought new. Will see what I can find new. The base model checks all the boxes Mx including AWD. I’d love heated seats, as I had them in my old Focus, but man, are they nice. But not necessary.
Good luck Tradd. It is an arduous process for me...hope it goes easily for you.
I already knew what I wanted. Turns out the Premium model was just a bit more than base. All weather package way out of my budget. Go to dealership tonight! Always pre-approved online. When I get the $5K for rebreather on Sunday, I’ll throw that on loan.
I have it home! So nice! Ac that is frosty cold. CarPlay. AWD.

I ended up going tonight because I didn’t want to deal with the shuddering transmission on the Escape anymore. Worried I would get stranded.

Congratulations, Tradd.
And because I had been paying down debt so aggressively, I had an excellent credit score and got a special of 5.9% financing.
That's a beauty! You will have many happy miles.

okay---best bet would been ta put a rebuilt tyranny in the Ford, and have it detailed w/new car smell. they keep on driving. yup
Congratulations! What year is it?
I have a 2003 Forester that is coming to the end, although I can always just take over my elderly dad's car. Since you're used to a car with more ground clearance, do you find the Crosstrek much closer to the ground when climbing in and out? The Forester has just the right seat height so it's not awkward. Looking at the Crosstrek, it seems lower. The Impreza would be a bargain but it's even lower.
It’s a 2024. It’s fine height wise. It’s shorter than my Escape but it still has almost 9” of ground clearance. I don’t have issues getting into it with my bad knees and sciatica.
