Back when it came out that the Democratic National Convention was scheduled after the Ohio ballot deadline, they made plans for a virtual vote to nominate the president to ensure his place on the ballot. Subsequently, Ohio passed a law to eliminate the problem. Now there seems to be a conflict within the party whether to keep the accelerated process to nominate him as soon as possible or to wait for the traditional convention vote.
There seem to be no great choices for them. Lock down Biden now and end (at least publicly) the ongoing buyer’s remorse, or wait for the convention and hold out for the possibility of fresh blood. Not sure which is the better choice strategically for the down-ballot Democrats who want to get back to the business of “saving our democracy”.
