Old vacation photos

I’m going through old photos and ran across old vacation photos.

Here’s a photo of me in 1971 at Stonehenge in England. Noticed there are no fences around the stones. Back in those days you could walk up to the stones and touch them, lean against them, sit on them, Now I understand it’s all fenced off.

My understanding is they started the fencing when doing archeology around them, then noticed it interfered with vandal's and such. One of the few sights I would like to actually see around the world.

I’ve always been fascinated by Scottish Baronial architecture. This one castle is a good example and I was focused on it, Stuart Castle near Inverness for decades.

Here’s a photo I took of it circa 1977 when it was unoccupied and starting to fall into ruin.

Decades later, we took a family vacation to Scotland and stayed in this same castle. by then it had been renovated and was at the time a castle – hotel.

The Renaissance style garden is perfect, and it looks just like I imagine it did in the mid 1600s with some wildness to it .The perfectly manicured formal gardens modeled on Italian gardens didn’t come along until later.

now, they aren’t displaying for me either. A few minutes ago they were. this is the second time I loaded these photos onto a thread. Yesterday the thread disappeared. Oh well, there’s something about these photos that the software does not like.

and here are two photos of the best bulldog who ever lived,Baggy Pants. She was the smartest, the most beautiful, the most obedient, the best. She died in 2009. In the first photo, I’m showing her in a fun match that she won. In the second photo, it’s DH and Loretta Swit from MASH.
