SO and I are packed and will be leaving Phoenix later tonight for Nogales. Had to post before we take off - apparently the AZ Attorney General is weighing prosecuting Trump for his remarks last Thursday night to Tucker Carlson at a suburban Glendale, AZ appearance.

Will Arizona FINALLY earn it's place in.the shade by destroying Donald Trump? Until further notice it does seem possible. What joy for me if it were ARIZONA that finally destroyed this threat to all that is democracy and decency. I'm willing to spend ALL my recent bonus on food for a huge block party if so!

Crossing fingers! I do have some hope - but I also know this country well enough not to trust. Rob

Why will Arizona prosecute Donald Trump?

Do you know what Trump allegedly said to prompt this? Are you aware that the Democratic talking points which arose from his comments have been proven demonstrably false by every reasonable observer of the discussion?

You do realize that rational people look at the dude that pretends to suck cock on a microphone and wonder what the **** is wrong with the maga people that they think that loser is at all appropriate as a potential president? Perhaps you, in all your obviously infinite wisdom can explain it.

We wouldn’t want to destroy that wack job if we weren’t at risk of having that psycho loser holding the most powerful office in the world. But he put himself in that position so eff him. We will do what we need to make sure that he doesn’t destroy the country we love.

Suit yourself. You'll just have to live with the consequences.

That sounds like something Trump would say.

I suppose he certainly is inspiring! Hopefully he doesn’t inspire me to consider pointing a gun at my political enemy’s head.

You never know. The Democrats and their media partners found the "Hitler", "fascist", "threat to democracy" labels to be pretty effective in that regard.

Which specific remarks? And what charges are you anticipating?

See, here in WA we've already activated the state emergency management center, have the State Police staffing levels increased, and have the National Guard on deck.

Because people are being quite uncivil, and remarks like that just amp up the situation.

I'm hoping to have a boring a peaceful week here, but even here in Brigadoon, tempers are all sides are getting out of hand, and people are acting out.

Bae, you’re right. It’s all my fault one of our presidential candidates is suggesting that some people are ‘enemies within’ that should have guns pointed at their heads.

To be fair, the suggestion was that people who advocate for war should be sent to war, but deep down you already know that.

And the draft dodger couldn't have done that without soliciting violence? But surely you know that as well.

I have to give you props for your persistence. Luckily we're only 2 days away from the election and you can drop all the lies and misinformation, or perhaps we'll have to spend the next four years listening to more of the same. If so, maybe they'll pay you for round 2.

I did not say it was all your fault. Those are your words, not mine.

Today here we had an apparent road-rage incident, involving one driver with a pickup truck with one party's bumper sticker on, harassing several other cars with the other party's bumper stickers. There was one auto accident as a result. The Sheriff is looking into the details. This call wasted several fire/ems crews' time and efforts today, yay!

If people want to play games about politics, they need to keep them off the road/streets, and calm the BLEEP down.

By all means tell me about the lies and disinformation. You seemed rational but maybe you’re truly a sad trump loser that doesn’t live in realityville. I can only wait to hear your perspective on the Iowa poll that doesn’t comport with your ugly view of Americans.

If only the ‘good people’ in one of our political parties would take responsibility. They could just say STOP! But they won’t. So I question just how ‘good’ they actually are. This will only end once Trump dies and goes to hell.

Do you mean the Des Moines Register's October poll which reported Harris up 47-44 over Trump, as well as a sweep of all Congressional races currently held by Republicans?

If so, that seems to be an outlier considering it requires something like an overall 13 or 14 point change over all previous polling, not to mention the Emerson College November poll showing Trump over Harris by 53-43 in the state.

Which one is more accurate? I don't know the answer to that but I think it's certainly weird to have one poll to be so different from previous and subsequent ones. I guess we'll find out in a few days.

Not sure what you mean about my "ugly view of Americans", would you care to explain?

That's pretty much what I heard, so as usual Trump rides the line of legality and I doubt anything will become of it. The rhetoric was either intentional to rouse his base, show he's a tough guy, and get attention. Or his declining mental status prevented him from using more appropriate words.

One of my news feeds claimed, with some sort of study, that the top thing people are stressed out about these days isn't money or work or relationships, but politics. My neighbor just put up a Harris yard sign which only makes two within a several block radius of my travels. I'm about over political discussion among my small social circles and the deceptive or out right lying media ads and interviews are ubiquitous. I'm ready for the vote counting to be over and the bickering over it to begin.

I'm coming up on my routine portfolio rebalance but will wait until the election is decided. Trumps policies on tariffs and deportation, if he carries them out, could be a disaster.

We didn’t see this level of perturbation when Trump actually did get shot.

I wonder if the Arizona AG will quietly drop her “investigation” when it no longer serves a political purpose.

oh Alan, the pundits at the Des Moines Register are never wrong. I grew up reading it. My relatives worked there. Their relatives worked there. Never wrong!

Pray to God he doesn’t win but am going to prepare if he does. Plan on stocking up on can goods and other things. Prices will surely escalate. Got cash in small bills today….

Actually that is also known as the Customs Act of 1930 and that is where the legislation for customs brokers to be license in the US comes from.

Everyone paying higher prices and having a job where higher tariffs will affect you are two different things. Higher tariffs could very well mean less shipment volume, lower raises, etc.

Count on it. As an example, if tariffs of 25% are put on Mexico for food… they are either going to quit doing business here or raise prices to recoup the 25%. A no win situation for US consumers.

Looks like your ugly view of Americans comported more closely with the reality than the experts fueling the hopes of the “resistance”.

It’s interesting to see some of the explanations of the activist class for the big shift Trumpward. It wasn’t the fault of the agenda on offer. It was a failure of white women to see their own best interests and to properly empathize with their sisters. It was Black and Latino men buying into white supremacy and seeking to become “model minorities”. Sort of the modern version of “The people have spoken, the bastards”.

Trump is far from acceptable to me, but I can’t help but marvel at the capacity for self-delusion of his opposition. In 2020 they elect a non-threatening grandpa type to be a “caretaker”, then pivot to selling him as FDR reborn. Then, after a massive effort to obnubilate his decrepitude, they have to replace him with a sort of synthetic candidate created by the media. So despite Trump being less popular than Harris, they shed so much credibility that they lost to perhaps the most obnoxious candidate in American history.
