Judge Juan Merchan, possibly Colombia's best ever export to the United States. For refusing to dismiss DJT's 34 Felony counts, making DJT's life more difficult, and for adding to the Resistance.
Who is your person of the year, and why? Rob

To be honest, The Person of the Year, the way TIME has always chosen them, is "a person, group, idea, or object that for better or for worse ... has done the most to influence the events of the year."
I'm sorry, Rob, based on that, I'd say Donald Trump is the obvious choice.
Now if I were to pick The Person of the Year based on higher values, like courage or integrity or extraordinary accomplishment, that's a different story. A FB friend said that Gisele Pelicot should be Person of the Year. I'm not sure she is my pick, but she's not a bad one.
I think I might pick an environmentalist like Yvon Chouinard for turning Patagonia into a trust for the environment ("The Earth Is Our Only Shareholder"), or Robin Wall Kimmerer for her best-selling books about nature and reciprocity, or Pope Francis for being the moral compasss against unfettered capitalism.
My 80+ year old Dad.
Two years ago after he broke his hip (for the 3rd time), they told him he'd never walk again.
Today he's getting around just fine, using Lofstrand crutches, after doing PT and strength training like a madman. He is still doing lots of community service activities to help out "the older folks", serving as the President and recent Treasurer of our rather-important Senior Center on the island, and running a grief-counseling group for people who hav e lost spouses/partners.

He gets my vote!
Bae's dad.
In the political realm it might be Liz Cheney for sticking to her ethics in spite of career loss and threats of all varieties.
I thought of Liz Cheney, too, Rogar! I really like her. She has integrity.

The friend of my family that passed in 2012 and left my Mother money broke both hips - seperate occasions - and this seemed to hasten his demise (though late stage Parkinsons didn't help). Kudos to your Father. Rob
