Solve for peace

This phrase promoted by Dr. John Delony, “Solve for peace in your life,” has really resonated with me.

John Delony is one of Dave Ramsey’s podcast hosts. He helps callers in their life choices and offers support for his callers. He does NOT do therapy, of course, because this is a podcast! But he does give them some guidance, some warm affirmation, and once in a while calls them out on their bullshit.

Anyway, “Solve for peace” is a wonderful, evocative slogan for me. It means we need to imagine what our calm, peaceful home looks like. What will be the simple-to-obtain things that give our lives joy and meaning? How do we get there? How do we shut out the noise of society and community that may be interfering with our vision of a peaceful life? If we can’t define a peaceful life we can’t get there.

Of course I have to recognize that too many people will not value a “peaceful” life. And that is fine, they can find other values to carry out but I don’t think I want to be their friends. The frantic, over scheduled, heart pumping lifestyle of those who live from emergency to emergency is not one I want to be anywhere near.

That is a great phrase--I agree. You have to analyze the situation, strategize on how to achieve the desired outcomes and then execute your plan to achieve peace. I like that.

I have listened to Delony from time to time and he isn't bad at all in terms of giving good advice.

I like this, IL. I agree with you about Delony, Catherine, and I did buy one of his books on anxiety. It's good.

Had people give me flack for not decorating for Christmas. The last time I put up the mini tree with lights neither DH or I bothered to turn it on the entire season. Neither of us care about it! I got rid of ALL decorations and do not miss them a bit. I am not going to decorate just to please others. It was great when our son was home but could care less now. I actually find it rude for others to try and impose their “must do things” into my life. A few times I used the phrase “you are not the boss of me.” What gall!

I think the winter season is an especially apt time to ponder peacefulness. A time for rest and reflection. But the opposite of what actually transpires during the season - a chaotic frenzy of buying and doing for most.

yes, for me the winter season is laid-back and calm.

I’ve already made one decision that solves for peace. I’ve decided not to attend a national convention that was clear across the country. I was dreading the airplane flights.

okay---this may be slightly off-topic, but I find peace with the idea the of USA owning Canada & Greenland AND Cuba, and the rest of the carribean would be nice, too. Use the charming isle of Hispaniola only for vacations. Yup. I'm what you might call a "Preservationist"; preserving the NW Hemisphere for America. Yup.

okay----i reckon that any minute now, those Fanaticrats will be indignant as heck and taking to the streets, quietly "protessing" about archvillain King Drumphs' alleged mistreatment of his latest victim, The Ayatollah. See---they're mad as heck, and ain't gonna take it anymore. No doubt they consider him(Ayatollah) an underdog, and when the bunkerbusters start falling, he needs to get on Tee-Vee, and hollar: "I can't breathe, I can't Breathe!!!", as loud as he can. But yeah---that'll trigger those Fanaticrats in all the major cittys ta start rioting and burning and looting and vandalizing squad cars and grabbing copses' guns, so they get shot. All on behalf of their Hero-du-jour, The Ayatollah. Yup.
