View Full Version : Mom and I are planning to visit the UK in June
Mom and I are planning to visit the UK in June. One reason is I always wanted to get a MTF makeover done at one place there and Mom wants some time with me. Mom will be coming with me, she supports my part time crossdressing and deserves a photo taken with me as Jackie during the makeover. I will be scheduling this myself letting them my mom will be there with me. Mom, she has wanted to visit some places and agree with her on it including hitting a couple pubs. My wife, she has vacation time in June and trying to work that out with her boss so she can come with us. She is going to be there at my makeover as well wanting a photo taken as well if she goes.

That will be a fun trip. London is a great old city.

I’m from Edinburgh. PLEASE try to visit other areas of the UK, not just London!

OMG, Ishbel! So great to hear from you! How've you been?
And yes, by all means, Jackie, take Ishbel's advice!

Someone I follow on Instagram just took a trip to Indonesia, then Edinburgh, then York.. ending in London
York is so charming and Edinburgh very cool. I’ve been to both several times.

Catherine. Thank you! I have often checked in, but not posted. I’ve not been too great, health wise. But, my diabetes and lung conditions are well controlled by the NHS. Doesn’t cost me a penny, for which I am grateful.

Nice to hear from you, Ishbel!

I'm glad to hear your health conditions are under control!
if you are trying to represent my point of view, you’re doing it poorly.
It isn’t free anyway. But carry on…
Because I was really just trying to welcome Ishbel back, I don't want to divert the welcome to taboo topics like religion and politics. We have a forum for that, so I'm editing my post to make it less controversial.

Oh, I can guess…. My ‘free’ health care! I KNOW it’s not free, and that I pay for it from my taxes. It still costs me nothing for meds, services and tests!

My daughter lives in the UK, and is a great fan of the NHS.

So glad to hear that, bae. Until recently, I had to test my blood at least 3 times daily, which was painful after a while. Two weeks ago I was given a device which fits on my arm, point my iphone at it, and the results are transmitted directly to my GP. Again, ‘free’.

That reminds me that when I gave blood last week, the Red Cross has a new device to test your hemoglobin, and they no longer have to prick your finger. You slip your finger into a device and it measures hemoglobin.

Here the Beeb says wait lists for NHS transgender care is five years.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-68588724
or perhaps that is “up to “five years. I suppose it’s like anywhere else, it depends on where you live and your specific healthcare needs. Healthcare resources in the United States can be different in rural than in populated areas. In Canada, it varies province by province. And etc.

that is great, one data point.
Aren’t you the person who is always pontificating about adequate data?
that said, I would probably be happy with NHS services for the most part because my needs are not extensive and I don’t have a sophisticated knowledge of what high-end services COULD be.
