okay----I'm considering this feat, doing several at a time during an annual vacation trip. I'll prolly avoid Mt Whitney, Rainier, and McKinley(FKN as Denali), Granite Peak and Borah Peak, until I conquer all the high points in the Midwest, such as Ohio & Iwah & Illanoise. Then, move on to the more challenging ones. Yup. I may overnite camp, if it is allowed. Tent camp, that is. What do you kids thinka that? What state high points have you visited?

okay----Here is a photo taken of the view of Campbell Hill, the highest point in Ohio. (see photo). The parkin' lot in the background can serve as base camp, prior to your ascent. Yup. Hope that helps you some.6186

okay---I was wondering if maybe waiting until winter, when there was snow cover, and summiting the high point of Ohio on cross-country skis might be more of an adventure? What are your thoughts on this?

okay---I know summa you kids liketa travel, using the very latest technology(which I call touch-screen addiction), but here is a photo of vacationers, camping overnight in preparation for an assault on Mt Campbell in Ohio. Yup. Ahhh-summ & A-may-zeen. Thank mee.(see photo)6188
I can see Pike's Peak out my kitchen window. It is a 14er though I don't know if it's the highest in the state.

The highest point in MA is Mt Greylock, which I like because we can access it by car, lol.
We can see Vermont's highest peak, Mt. Mansfield, from Lake Champlain. Here's a pic taken from our boat last year. My son and daughter have hiked up part of it, but not to the summit (4393 ft)

okay---TYVM, kids, for sharing the name & locale of the high point of your home states. I will read up on them. Yup. Edited to add---I sat-n-watched a youtube video about hiking to the top of Mt Mansfield, hosted by a young couple who resembled Mr & Mrs Lee Oswald. But yeah---it was very interesting. Even though there's apparantly a road to the top, they used a public trail that cost a $4 charge, which is reasonable, I guess. There were a couple rock-climbs that made it fairly exiting, for a scaredy-cat like mee. It was very foggy on the day they hiked it, so no panoramic views. But---Vahmont is beautiful, for sure.

okay----i sat-n-watched a u-toob vid about Mt Washington, the MOST dangerous & deadly climb in the world, stastically speaking, anyway. But yeah---you can choose to "climb" it by various official routes(and be sure not to stray from the routes or you might damage the fragile ecosystems there), or else you can summit by riding your weeniEBike to the top on the paved road. Pick your poison. But yeah---our guide on the video was a comely lass who took the route carefully crafted by the gummmint, that is more like an obstacle course or rock-climing gym. But mostly rocks. So popular with the tourists, that they've created an experience. They've even compiled a list of the people who have perished on Mt Worshington. Yup. BTW, Mt Worshington is the high point of Vah-mont, a suburb of Noo Yawk. I wonder when they will rename the Mountain(and the ones next to it) after some long-dead injun chief? Prolly not within the next four years, but just wait. Ha. Thankk Mee.
We live very close to Mt. Washington and I have not been up there yet--it's real expensive, you have to go up to the observatory in a special expensive transport, and apparently the drive up there is terrifying. Maybe someday.

okay---yes---I forgot to mention that there appeared to be a train-tram hauling tourists to the top. Plus, the parking lot and the designated trailheads was very full. So, yeah---Mt Washington is very touristy. But interesting, anyway.
